Ethereum Pectra upgrade postponed due to testing vulnerability, developers will conduct additional testing

According to CoinDesk, Ethereum developers have decided to postpone the Pectra upgrade and conduct further testing due to a vulnerability caused by a configuration error encountered on the testing networks Holesky and Sepolia.
The original plan for the postponement was to determine the release date of Pectra's mainnet during a conference call on March 6th. However, due to unstable testing, developers have decided to create a "shadow fork" for the Holesky testnet so that key stakeholders (such as staking pools and DApp developers) can continue testing Pectra's code before its official launch. The Holesky network is expected to resume normal operation on March 28th.
Pectra Upgrade Core Improvements:
EIP-7702: Empower the wallet with smart contract functionality, promote account abstraction, and allow non ETH payment for transaction fees.
EIP-7251: Increase the maximum staking limit for validators from 32 ETH to 2048 ETH, reduce validator node splitting, and improve network efficiency.
Although the goal of Pectra's upgrade is to enhance the availability and competitiveness of Ethereum, the delayed decision has sparked some dissatisfaction within the community, criticizing the Ethereum Foundation for failing to establish a clear development path and being at a disadvantage in competition with emerging networks such as Solana.
