WSJ: US and Canadian officials may hold talks on reducing or canceling tariffs

On March 5th, according to the Wall Street Journal, informed sources revealed that US and Canadian officials are in talks to reduce or cancel the tariffs imposed by President Trump on Tuesday, and added that an agreement could be reached as early as Wednesday. US and Canadian officials remained in contact on Tuesday and added that Trump and Canadian Prime Minister Trudeau may also have a dialogue on tariffs on Wednesday. Previously, US Commerce Secretary Lutnik stated on Tuesday that Trump may be able to "reach some agreements" with Canada and Mexico to ease the 25% tariffs imposed by the US earlier on Tuesday. Lutnik also had a conversation with Governor Doug Ford of Ontario, the most populous province in Canada. A senior Canadian official said that on Tuesday night, Lutnik also had a conversation with Canadian Finance Minister LeBron James.
