BlockBeats News: On March 4th, Derek Holt, an economist at Scotiabank in Canada, stated that so far, the financial market sell-off caused by US President Trump's 25% tariffs on Canada and Mexico has been relatively mild. The reasons include that traders have already digested the tariff risks, at least Canada's retaliatory response is not as strong as the tariff measures taken by the United States, and it is currently unclear how long Trump will maintain tariffs. Holt believes that Trump imposed tariffs before his speech to members of Congress on Tuesday night local time, in order to demonstrate progress on trade. He added that considering Trump's close monitoring of stock market performance, traders may believe that the deterioration of risk appetite could prompt Trump to change his stance. (Golden Ten)
