Today, the market is still speculating whether Trump Council will make periodic tariff adjustments to other countries and regions in the way of giving (China) small commodity transition time, but in fact it has not. Just now, Trump announced on the Truth Social that the tariff adjustment will officially start on April 2. It should be noted that the tariffs implemented on March 4th are aimed at Canada, Mexico, and China, while the measures implemented on April 2nd mainly involve quasi reciprocal tariffs. In other words, whoever gives the United States high tariffs, the United States will give them high tariffs, and whoever gives the United States low tariffs, the United States will give them low tariffs. The tariff reciprocity now mainly targets the European Union, Japan, and South Korea. Tariff reciprocity is not an automatic adjustment, but rather a specific decision made by the US government based on each country's tariff situation towards the US, therefore there is a certain degree of policy flexibility. In other words, the tariff war has begun, and Trump has asked American farmers to sell their food to the United States as much as possible. But we should know that the United States is a major grain exporter in the world, and its grain exports are far more than imports on the whole.
