If we play our cards right, we'll remember today as one of the most consequential turning points in Ethereum's history.
The last few months have been, to put it mildly, tumultuous. While it's clear that many things need to change for Ethereum to win, it's easy to overcorrect and kill the magic in search of maximal optimization. This week's announcements make me confident we've struck the right balance between these two extremes.
@tkstanczak is the only person I could imagine coming into the EF from the outside and hitting the ground running to help us accelerate. He's built a client from scratch, scaled Nethermind as one of the most successful independent Ethereum organizations in the space and travels the world non-stop to meet Ethereum builders, researchers and users. I'm stoked he'll be working with us!
@hwwonx is one of the very few people who has been involved hands on in Ethereum's transition to "Eth2" from the very beginning. She literally made the first diagram that showcased how sharding was supposed to work 😄! Her deep context about how research evolves into specifications which end up in production clients and perspective as a long-time EFer uniquely complements Tomasz' background.
I'm also delighted that the two of them will be able to rely on the wisdom and insights of both new and seasoned contributors. Ethereum's culture is unique and this is the result of both top-down and bottoms-up influence. With @AyaMiyagotchi as president of the EF board as well as formal and informal advisory circles forming, I'm confident Ethereum will remained anchored to OG values while staying relevant for newcomers.
And, last but not least, I'm thrilled to see @dannyryan joining Etherealize. "The Most Important Scarce Resource is Legitimacy" and I can think of no one else who could do a better job of helping bootstrap an organization that will carry the torch (and then some!) to get Ethereum adopted at scale.
There's a lot of work ahead of us and we shouldn't delude ourselves into taking for granted that Ethereum will succeed at the level of its ambitions. That said, we now have the best structure we've ever had to give us a fighting chance.
Let's fucking go ❤️🔥
