WHAT THE HELL IS HAPPENING IN MA?
Let’s review just a few things:
Consumers are suffering from shock caused by natural gas bills - which have risen by DOUBLE-DIGIT percentages;
On top of that, in order to pay for 2 BILLION @maura_healey has spent on housing, feeding, and clothing illegal and undocumented migrants, she’s taxing everything she can get her hands on:
- A Prescription Medication Fee - A fee of up to 2 per prescription filled at pharmacies;
- Candy Sales Tax - Applying the state’s 6.25% sales tax to candy, which is currently exempt;
- Synthetic Nicotine Tax - Extending the existing tobacco tax to include synthetic nicotine products;
- Local Option Lodging Tax Increase: Allowing municipalities to raise the local option lodging tax on hotels, motels, and other rentals;
- A Meals Tax Adjustment - although not yet defined or specified;
- A Motor Vehicle Excise Tax Surcharge - a new 5% surcharge on the existing motor vehicle excise tax - that’s right, she’s effectively - TAXING THE TAX ITSELF. 🤦♂️
On top of all that, Speaker @RonMariano & House leadership voted AGAINST a bipartisan amendment that would allow the state auditor @DianaDiZoglio to audit the legislature, as the voters overwhelmingly mandated - BY A 72% VOTE.
And now, because @RealTomHoman has promised that ICE is coming to MA to remove VIOLENT CRIMINALS - people here illegally, who’ve committed rape, including the rape of children, drug dealers, gang or cartel members, murderers, and known or suspected terrorists, elected officials in MA seek to make it harder to find the bad guys.
Now let’s get something straight: I’m someone who’s been an independent voter the vast majority of my life. I’ve supported and donated money to BOTH Republican and Democrat candidates. When I ran for U.S. Senate the @BostonGlobe Editorial Board, not known to be overly conservative, to say the least, described me as a “reasonable alternative” to @ewarren. Because of my strong support for women’s reproductive rights, and despite the fact that I would never support biological men competing in sports against biological women, the Boston Globe called me “down right liberal” on some social issues. The Globe did so because I am truly a nonpartisan person. I beleive in MA & America - not a party or an agenda.
Although I supported securing the border, deporting undocumented migrants who’ve crossed the border illegally, ending excessive overregulation hurting American businesses and chasing entrepreneurs offshore, fighting inflation by cutting gross government spending, ending foreign wars, and putting Americans first, some Republican voters were disappointed in me, as the Republican Nominee, because I had been critical of, and not a big supporter of President @realDonaldTrump.
So, with all that said let me say: the leadership here in MA with @MassGovernor, @MassAGO @MayorWu and the Democratic leadership, controlling a super majority in the MA legislature, have lost their fucking minds.
