here's a quick update from the latest ethereum dev call, ACDE #206. devs spent the entirety of the call debriefing the holesky pectra upgrade. biggest takeaways are: 1) NO CHANGES TO SEPOLIA FORK DATE/TIME. devs have agreed to move forward with the upgrade next wed. there will be updated releases for FOUR clients, (geth besu nethermind and lodestar). you can find the updated client releases for the sepolia fork here: https://blog.ethereum.org/2025/02/14/pectra-testnet-announcement 2) devs haven't given up on holesky. they are still trying to recover the network, they will meet tomorrow at 1500 UTC to coordinate a disabling of slashing protections across all holesky validators. best case, holesky finalizes. worst case, devs have sped up the process of slashing against bad validators. important to note that even in the best case, after holesky finalizes, it will still take weeks for the holesky network to recover. 3) it's clear the community has lost some major testing capabilities with the loss of holesky. there isn't a testnet comparable to holesky now that dapp develops can test pectra on. devs are still working on a path forward for testing in lieu of holesky. they are also working on long-term mitigations so that what happened on holesky won't happen again and better recovery strategies so that they can recover testnets and ethereum mainnet in worst case scenarios faster. my full writeup on ACDE #206 will be coming out tomorrow and an infinite jungle podcast episode on the holesky incident will be coming out on tuesday!
