Wu said that the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) has issued a Security Notice (PSA) confirming that a North Korean hacker group is responsible for the theft of approximately $1.5 billion in digital assets from the Bybit exchange. The FBI stated that the hacker group acted quickly, converting some of the stolen assets into Bitcoin and other digital assets, and dispersing them across thousands of addresses on multiple blockchains. It is expected that these assets will be further laundered and ultimately converted into legal tender. To prevent the circulation of stolen assets, the FBI urges RPC node operators, exchanges, cross chain bridges, blockchain analysis companies, DeFi services, and other virtual asset service providers to fully block all transactions related to or originating from addresses used by hackers for money laundering. https://www.
