From Shannon to Wiener: Towards the Internet of Trust Value The birth of the Internet is undoubtedly one of the greatest inventions in human history. Claude Shannon's information theory has laid a solid theoretical foundation for the Internet. Shannon believed that information is something used to reduce uncertainty, regardless of the meaning represented by the information itself. This view emphasizes the transmission and coding of information, so that any information can flow freely on the Internet, building the information age we are familiar with today. However, with the vigorous development of the Internet, we have gradually realized that information is not only a meaningless bit stream, but also carries value, trust and emotion. Norbert Wiener's information theory focuses more on the role of information in human society, emphasizing that information is an important component of communication between people and contains rich meanings and values. How to transform Shannon's meaningless information Internet into Wiener's meaningful trust value Internet has become a problem before us. Fortunately, the emergence of Bitcoin has provided us with a possible path. Bitcoin is essentially a system based on Shannon information theory, which uses Proof of Work (PoW) mechanism to transform unordered computing power into an ordered blockchain structure and convert meaningless information into meaningful information. The Unspend Transaction Output (UTXO) in Bitcoin is such meaningful information that records the transaction history and ownership relationships of Bitcoin, becoming the foundation of trust. When designing Bitcoin, Satoshi Nakamoto skillfully used the structure of UTXO and combined PoW mechanism to realize the transformation from the meaningless information Internet to the meaningful trust value Internet. UTXO is similar to real-world currency, where every transaction must have a clear source and destination, ensuring traceability and transparency of the transaction. Meanwhile, the PoW mechanism ensures the uniqueness and immutability of UTXOs through competition in computing power, thereby establishing the foundation of trust. Nakamoto Cong's design idea points out a certain direction for us: how to create a trust value Internet based on Shannon's meaningless information theory? To achieve this goal, we can draw on the following ideas: Use blockchain and other technologies to transform the information on the Internet into a UTXO structure with clear meaning and value. For example, converting digital assets, identity information, intellectual property, and other information into UTXOs to make them traceable, verifiable, and tradable. By using PoW or other consensus mechanisms, ensure the uniqueness and immutability of UTXO, and establish the foundation of trust. In addition to PoW, other consensus mechanisms such as Proof of Stake and Delegated Proof of Stake can also be explored to improve efficiency and security. Build an open, transparent, and secure network environment where people can freely exchange and use meaningful information. This requires strengthening network security construction, protecting user privacy, cracking down on cybercrime, and creating a good network ecosystem. Through "thermodynamic work", the meaningless and disordered Shannon information theory Internet will be transformed into a meaningful, orderly Wiener information theory and a vital value network. This requires designing incentive mechanisms to encourage users to participate in network construction, contribute valuable information, and earn benefits from it. Further, we can introduce self directed modeling and perceptual automata into the construction of trust value Internet. Self directed modeling: endowing the network with intelligence, enabling it to learn, evolve autonomously, and adapt to environmental changes. The network can automatically adjust its structure and parameters based on user behavior, transaction information, etc., optimize resource allocation, and improve efficiency. Perceptual automata: Introducing perceptual abilities into networks to enable them to perceive information from the physical world. For example, collecting environmental data, user behavior data, etc. through IoT devices, and adjusting network behavior based on perception results to achieve interaction between the network and the physical world. Through the above efforts, we can transform Shannon's meaningless information Internet into a meaningful information Internet full of trust and value, and realize the real trust value Internet. In this network, information is not only freely flowing, but also valuable. People can conduct various transactions and interactions safely and conveniently, creating a better future.
