I’ve been critical of our handling of the Ukraine war. On the debate stage against @ewarren, I said I would not vote for more aid until the American people are provided real answers to several questions such as: 1) what’s the plan (and saying Ukraine winning is not a plan); 2) are peace talks on the table and if not, why not; how far will the next funds go and will there be yet another ask for more money down the road; is America & Ukraine willing to stipulate, as part of a peace deal, that Ukraine will not become a member of NATO; if not, why not; if not, why is it now critical, after more than 1/2 century, for Ukraine to become a NATO member; to name a few. I also said I wanted to see an actual accounting for every dollar of taxpayer money spent on the war. The American people deserve to know how every dollar is spent. I said I was open to voting for more funding if conditions were met and I believed it was in America’s interest. Unbelievably, some claimed I turned my back on democracy. Really? For just wanting basic questions and an accounting done? This is the same Ukraine that Biden is on video saying he withheld 1B in funding until they fired a specific prosecutor and was a country riddled with corruption.👇 https://www.tiktok.com/t/ZT2aJAMxW/ The Ukraine war has become one more line of division in today’s world of politics where it becomes difficult for some to say basic truths because if you acknowledge a truth, it may be perceived as not supporting a specific political agenda. It is more than unfortunate. Russia invaded Ukraine and was the one who started the war. Period. If, prior to RUSSIA’S INVASION, @JoeBiden and @ZelenskyyUa would have come out and publicly stated that Ukraine will NOT become a member of NATO, many argue Russia would not have invaded. 🤷‍♂️ Whether true or not, it doesn’t change the fact aka truth that Russia invaded Ukraine and was the one who started the war.
