🔥 @ NEARProtocol launches its first secure and autonomous AI agent, Shade Agents
Autonomous AI agents are reshaping software, which is the trend and will replace applications, websites, and even enterprises.
But currently, most AI agents are still centrally managed, limiting their ability to securely manage assets or process sensitive data. Some teams have attempted to use Trusted Execution Environment (TEE), In order to perform secure calculations while keeping sensitive raw data confidential. But this method has the potential for single point of failure, either by centralizing key management and potentially losing TEE keys.
The latest launch of Shade Agents by Near is a multi chain AI driven smart contract that has undergone comprehensive on chain validation, eliminating single points of failure and achieving fully autonomous and verifiable AI agents. The system utilizes NEAR's chain signature for decentralized key management and runs work agents in a trusted execution environment (TEE) to securely access off chain data and execute decisions based on advanced AI models.

⭐ How did Shade Agents achieve these visions?
Each Shade Agent consists of two components: a work agent and a smart contract.
A work agent can be seen as a robot assistant, a verified off chain component. These agents can interact with data sources, query AI models (including private big language models), and propose transactions on the blockchain. Anyone can build and deploy the correct code repository in TEE, generate unique key pairs, and then submit remote proofs by calling the smart contract of Shade Agent to run the given working agent.
Smart contracts are responsible for monitoring and confirming work like security. It will store the expected code hash of the working agent in advance. When a new work agent submits a proof, the smart contract verifies the proof by checking the TEE signature, confirming whether the code hash of the work agent is correct. If the verification is successful, the working agent can start executing tasks on the blockchain.
This contract uses chain signatures to enable a group of decentralized working agents to jointly control the same key on the blockchain. This mechanism eliminates the risk of key loss or leakage caused by using a single TEE.
