BlockBeats News: On February 21st, decentralized social protocol Mask Network announced a strategic restructuring of its ecosystem organization MaskDAO. The three core projects of Next.ID, Web3.Bio, and Firefly have been officially split into independent entities, managed by MaskDAO to unleash the potential of each project and promote token economy and financing innovation. Founder Suji Yan stated that this adjustment marks Mask's transformation into a "Web3 social group", following Tencent's ecological model and building a decentralized social map through investment and product matrix expansion. Since its establishment in 2017, Mask Network has provided encrypted communication, payment, and storage services for Twitter users through browser plugins, and has raised over $100 million through its venture capital firm Bonfire Union to continue investing in decentralized social infrastructure. At present, it operates three active nodes on Mastodon (including the largest instance Pawoo. net), committed to improving the decentralization of social networks. It is worth noting that in this spin off, Firefly, as a Web3 social aggregator, has become an indispensable presence in decentralized social networking. Previously, Vitalik Buterin publicly showcased his Firefly homepage, and the future tokenization development of Firefly has become one of the hot topics in the community. This independent operation may lay the foundation for further exploration of decentralized social economy models and even the launch of native tokens. This spin off will strengthen the vertical competitiveness of each project and accelerate the realization of the vision of 'making Web3 within reach'.
