Odaily Planet Daily reported that British police have arrested and charged two men with cryptocurrency fraud, resulting in a 75 year old retired man from Aberdeenshire losing six figures in funds.
The male victim reported the fraud in July 2024, and Scottish police immediately launched an investigation. Police officers from the Northeast Division of the police went to England yesterday to make arrests and cooperate with the West Midlands and South Yorkshire police. They arrested a 54 year old man in Coventry and a 36 year old man in Mikesborough, both of whom were charged on the same day.
In a statement regarding the arrest, Detective Sheriff David Williamson of the Northeast Branch's Cybercrime Unit warned the public to "be alert to seemingly fraudulent activities and report them to the police". (Decrypt)
