The Blockchain Association has gathered 75 participants in the cryptocurrency industry to sign a letter calling on the US Congress to repeal the Internal Revenue Service's DeFi broker rules. The Internal Revenue Service (IRS) has pushed for an important rule for digital asset brokers between Christmas and New Year, aimed at imposing information reporting requirements on DeFi brokers similar to securities brokers and exchanges. According to the Congressional Review Act, recently approved rules can be repealed, and Texas Republican Senator Ted Cruz proposed a resolution last week to achieve this goal. On Wednesday, an industry consortium led by the Blockchain Association and joined by Coinbase, a16z, Paradigm, Kraken, Uniswap, Anchorage Digital, and dozens of other companies, issued a letter requesting support from other members of Congress for Cruz's initiative.
