President Pan Gongsheng presided over the third Central Bank Governors' Meeting of China and the Gulf Cooperation Council, and held a series of bilateral meetings

On February 16, 2025, Pan Gongsheng, President of the People's Bank of China, presided over the Third Central Bank Governors' Meeting of the member states of the Cooperation Council between China and the Gulf Arab States (GCC) in Saudi Arabia. This is also the first face-to-face meeting between the central bank governors of China and the Gulf Cooperation Council. The attending parties exchanged views on the global economic and financial situation, the opportunities and challenges faced by China and the Gulf Cooperation Council countries in the financial field, as well as the key areas for future financial cooperation between the two sides. The central bank governors of the participating countries stated that China and the Gulf Cooperation Council countries have complementary economic advantages. China is the largest trading partner of the Gulf countries, and deepening cooperation between the two central banks will help better serve trade and investment, promote regional financial stability and development. China and the central banks of the Gulf Cooperation Council countries will further strengthen local currency cooperation, expand two-way investment in financial markets, promote interconnectivity of payment systems, work together to promote international financial governance reform, and strengthen cooperation in the fields of digital currency and anti money laundering.
