I’ve seen the reports suggesting that Jamaica is in a recession. Our economy remains strong, businesses are growing, and unemployment is at historic lows. Yes, we faced unexpected shocks—severe weather events in July, September, and November of 2024 impacted our agricultural sector and disrupted electricity supply. But this is exactly why we have built a resilient economy—one that can absorb shocks, recover, and continue to grow. Unlike in the past, when Jamaica’s economy was stagnant or declining, we now have an economy that works for the people. Business and consumer confidence are up, and we are pushing ahead. Challenges will come, but we will never go back to the days of economic mismanagement. Jamaica is moving in the right direction, and we will continue to ensure that every Jamaican benefits from our progress.
