I had a call with President of the Council of Ministers @GiorgiaMeloni and thanked Italy for its comprehensive support of Ukraine. I informed her about my recent contacts with the U.S. administration, including my meeting with Vice President JD Vance and my call with President Trump. We discussed coordination with partners on effective security guarantees for Ukraine and possible frameworks to ensure long-term security. I emphasized that the strongest and most cost-effective guarantee is NATO membership. Until Ukraine receives an invitation, it is crucial that our partners support the development of our strong, modern army, air defense systems, long-range capabilities, and a capable fleet. I also stressed that before any negotiations, Europe, the U.S., and Ukraine must coordinate a unified defense and security strategy with a clear action plan. Europe must be a full participant in peace negotiations and efforts to prevent future wars.
