🌍 World, the proof-of-personhood protocol using biometric data, is facing challenges in Brazil! 🇧🇷 The project lost an appeal to the National Data Protection Agency (ANPD) for a 45-day delay to adapt to a ruling that halted cryptocurrency rewards for users.
The ANPD stated that the crypto rewards could interfere with citizens' free will in providing their data, especially given the vulnerabilities involved. 🔒
Despite the appeal, the company continued its operations, prompting the ANPD to enforce its decision. The agency emphasized its commitment to protecting privacy rights and personal data in Brazil.
Tools For Humanity (TFH), the organization behind World, has acknowledged the ruling and will pause operations until further notice. They stated, "We respect the ANPD’s decision and will coordinate to ensure compliance."
World must present documentation confirming the pause within 10 days.
