Trump nominates Jonathan Gould as the Director of the United States Monetary Authority

On February 13th, according to Cointelegraph, US President Trump nominated former cryptocurrency company executive Jonathan Gould to the Senate as the Director of the Office of the Superintendent of the Currency (OCC) for a five-year term. Gould previously served as the Chief Legal Officer at Bitfury, a blockchain infrastructure company, and previously held the position of Senior Deputy Director and Chief Legal Advisor at OCC during Trump's first administration. Kristin Smith, CEO of the Blockchain Association, stated that Gould's experience in the cryptocurrency industry will help him effectively lead OCC. As the national banking regulatory agency in the United States, OCC is responsible for supervising member banks of the Federal Reserve System such as JPMorgan Chase and Bank of America.
