According to sources familiar with the matter, Musk's X company (formerly known as Twitter) has agreed to pay approximately $10 million to settle Trump's lawsuit against the company and its former CEO. This will make X company the second social media outlet to reach a settlement with Trump. Previously, due to Trump's involvement in the January 6th Capitol riot, these platforms suspended the use of his account. Trump and other plaintiffs filed a lawsuit against Twitter and its CEO Jack Dorsey in 2021 (when Twitter was not acquired by Musk). Musk unblocked Trump's Twitter account in November 2022. According to some insiders, the Trump team had considered gradually phasing out the lawsuit, citing Musk's close relationship with the president and the $250 million he spent on helping Trump win. But ultimately they decided to push for reconciliation. The spokesperson of X company did not respond.
