According to BlockBeats, on February 12th, PGIM Fixed Income stated in a report that the Bank of Japan may raise its benchmark interest rate by another 25 basis points this year. However, if Japanese consumers significantly increase their spending, the Bank of Japan may accelerate the pace of interest rate hikes.
It points out that the Bank of Japan is gradually raising nominal policy rates close to 2%, with the latest rate hike bringing rates to an important psychological level of 0.5%. In the long run, PGIM believes that the Bank of Japan considers a nominal interest rate of at least 1% to be appropriate. (Golden Ten)
