According to Forbes, the X account of Tanzanian billionaire Mohammed Dewji was hacked and used AI deepfake videos to promote Tanzanian tokens. Dewji himself denies involvement and claims that the account is still under hacker control.
Hackers disabled the comment function and released 4 consecutive deepfake videos to attract investors to purchase. Within just a few hours, investors have invested $1.48 million. The gang is suspected to be related to hackers who previously hacked into the account of former Brazilian President Jair Bolsonaro and defrauded him of $1.3 million. The X platform has not responded yet.
