According to BlockBeats, on February 5th, the New York Times reported that the US Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) is reducing the size of its special department responsible for cryptocurrency enforcement, which was originally composed of over 50 lawyers and staff members and focused on cryptocurrency related cases.
Insiders revealed that some of the personnel have been transferred to other departments of the SEC, and a senior lawyer has been removed from the law enforcement department. Some insiders described this as an "unfair demotion".
This decision is one of the first concrete measures taken by President Trump and his administration to relax cryptocurrency regulation. After taking office, Trump issued an executive order aimed at promoting the development of the cryptocurrency industry and "eliminating excessive regulation of digital assets". The SEC spokesperson declined to comment on this.
