DFINITY Announces the Completion of Solenoid Upgrading Internet Computer Edge Infrastructure to Realize Decentralization

PANews|Jan 30, 2025 13:41
According to DFINITY's announcement, the Solenoid upgrade has been officially completed, and ICP's edge infrastructure has been fully decentralized. Previously, boundary nodes were operated by the DFINITY Foundation, but under the new architecture, boundary nodes have been split into API boundary nodes and HTTP gateways, responsible for request routing and HTTP request conversion respectively, thereby improving network security, scalability, and decentralization.
At present, ICP has deployed 20 API boundary nodes to form its public network edge, while DFINITY is still operating multiple HTTP gateways to ensure a smooth transition of the system. Developers can directly connect to API boundary nodes through Discovery Library, bypassing the HTTP gateway and fully utilizing the advantages of the new architecture.
