@DrakefJustin spoke too technically. Let me talk from the perspective of a non-technical blogger about my understanding of native rollup and how it will bring innovation to Ethereum scaling solutions?
non-technical TLDR
one ⃣ The settlement layer on Ethereum is L2, The DA layer in Ethereum is rollup, the sorting layer in Ethereum is based rollup, and the execution layer in Ethereum is based rollup In short, the DA/settlement/execution of base rollup are all on Ethereum;
two ⃣ Implemented based on EXECUTE precompilation. Based on the pre compiled contract Rollup, the transaction logic can be directly executed in the EVM execution engine of Ethereum L1, without relying on external virtual machines to calculate and verify transaction state transitions;
The verifier verifies the validity of the transaction through reenactment or ZKP (SNARK proof). If ZKP is used, validators can customize zkEL validators (such as @ RiscZero @ SuccinchLabs, etc.).
If native rollups move towards mass adoption, the most direct beneficiaries will be zk infrastructure providers.
three ⃣ Advantages of Native Rollup:
👉 Simplification: Based on precompilation, encapsulate the complexity of traditional rollup virtual machines, compressing the current rollup that needs to run thousands of lines of code to handle fraud proofs/SNARK proofs into one line of code;
👉 Security: No longer relying on fraud proof/ZKP verification of off chain transaction state transitions, using native execution pre coding to avoid potential vulnerabilities;
👉 EVM equivalence: Native rollup does not require synchronous updates based on governance mechanisms (such as security committees/governance token voting) during Ethereum upgrades, and pre compilation will achieve synchronous updates with L1 Ethereum upgrades.
