McDonald's collaborates with Doodles to launch collectible cups and online promotional activities.

McDonald's is optimistic about the Doodles media franchise project, which originally started as a non-fungible token (NFT) project. McDonald's and Doodles recently confirmed on X that "McCafé x Doodles Holiday cups will be launched on 11/18."

According to advertising industry media, the McDonald's-Doodles campaign is named "GM Spread Joy." The campaign will introduce limited edition McCafé cups featuring artwork inspired by Doodles, with opportunities to win digital wearables and animated content accessible through the McDonald's app. The McDonald's app will mimic a collectible card pack to create a "tear pack experience."

The campaign is also supported by the #GMSpreadJoy social media challenge on TikTok and Instagram. McDonald's Chief Marketing Officer Tariq Hassan stated in a press release:

On November 12, McDonald's posted a rather cryptic animation on its X account. The animation was quickly interpreted as a reference to Doodles, leading to a surge in Doodles NFT sales.

"Doodles said when reposting McDonald's next X post: 'The Doodles community will become even larger.' Doodles released its first animated film, 'Dullsville and the Doodleverse,' on September 13, making it a great time for Doodles.

Doodles NFTs first landed on OpenSeas in October 2021 and quickly became a best-selling token. Their NFTs are still available for purchase on the website, with prices ranging from 2.85 Ether (ETH) to 299 Ether (ETH).

By mid-June 2022, when popular musician Pharrell Williams joined the project as Chief Brand Officer, Doodles' secondary sales had exceeded $500,000. Williams' music, along with voices from rappers Lil Wayne, Coi Leray, and Lil Yachty, featured in the new film.
