According to a recent poll, nearly 58% of Argentinians say they no longer trust President Javier Milei after his involvement in the $4.6 billion LIBRA cryptocurrency scandal.

The polling platform Zuban Córdoba asked 1,600 respondents in its latest March survey: "How much trust do you have in Milei today, more than a month after the cryptocurrency fraud scandal broke?" Among them, 57.6% expressed disapproval, while 36% said Milei still has their trust.

The report noted that the remaining 6.4% were uncertain.

This is the first time Zuban Córdoba has posed this question in a poll. However, several other indicators, such as Milei's image and national management approval ratings, have significantly declined in recent months.

For instance, the latter dropped from 47.3% in November to 41.6% in March.

"58% disapprove of Javier Milei's management. Negative ratings are slowly but steadily increasing, seemingly without limit," Zuban Córdoba stated.

"As more issues arise on the political agenda, evaluations and attitudes towards the government are solidifying."

Zuban Córdoba conducted this study between March 12 and 14, with a sample size of 1,600 participants, providing a 95% confidence level and a 2.45% margin of error.

Another survey conducted by the University of San Andrés from March 11 to 20 found that Milei's approval rating had dropped to 45%.

However, not all polls depict the same image of President Milei.

Data collected by Morning Consult from February 27 to March 5 shows that, following the LIBRA scandal, Milei still enjoys a 62.4% approval rating.

Since the scandal, Milei has distanced himself from LIBRA, arguing that he did not "promote" the LIBRA token in his controversial X post on February 14—as alleged in the fraud lawsuit against him—but merely "spread" information about it.

Shortly after Milei's X post was published, the market value of the Libra (LIBRA) token soared to $4.6 billion, only to plummet nearly 94% in the following hours.

The Argentine opposition has called for Milei's impeachment, but so far, it has had little effect.

This controversy comes as the next Argentine election is scheduled for October 26.

Despite the negative poll results, Milei's "Libertarian Party" is still most likely to win the upcoming Argentine election, with a support rate of 36.7%, followed closely by the "Patria Union" at 32.5%.

However, only 43% of Argentine respondents believe Milei—an economist before taking office—has adequately controlled inflation, while 63% oppose Milei's efforts to secure new loans from the International Monetary Fund.
