Therefore, it is recommended to periodically inspect these extensions and adopt a layered defense strategy—
1⃣ Proactive defense before installation
Only download extensions from official stores, and pay special attention to Google's official risk labeling and authorization.
Only keep a few essential extensions; some extensions may have been installed as part of a bundle, so clean them up in a timely manner.
Conduct a thorough review of extension qualifications, prioritizing developers from companies rather than anonymous accounts.
Be cautious of extensions that suddenly start updating frequently after a long period of inactivity.
2⃣ Permission control during installation
Follow the principle of least privilege, refusing excessive permissions, such as a notepad-type extension requesting "read all website data," and use Chrome's "Site Access" feature to limit the scope of the extension.
It is best to sandbox the operating environment. For example, you can isolate high-risk extensions using Firefox Multi-Account Containers or create dedicated browser profiles using Chrome Profiles.
3⃣ Dynamic monitoring during use
