It performs remarkably, but everyone is more curious about how it was achieved.

In June 2021, Zhi Hui Jun released a video of an "autonomous driving bicycle" on Bilibili, which quickly went viral and later earned him the title of "Huawei's genius boy."
Four years later, as an entrepreneur, he once again made waves with a "bicycle." However, this time there was a "person" on the bicycle.
On March 11, 2025, after exposing the robot base model GO-1, Zhi Yuan Robotics unveiled its latest product, the Lingxi X2 robot. As everyone expected, Lingxi 2 can not only perform the third driving test but also "sew grapes" with its nimble hands. Of course, there’s also the bicycle that made Zhi Hui Jun famous; the Lingxi X2 riding a bicycle once again proves that the bicycle is Zhi Hui Jun's "soul device."
The Lingxi X2 not only has outstanding athletic abilities but also possesses its own "personality," capable of being playful and affectionate.
Can Zhi Yuan's Lingxi X2 really enter the homes of ordinary people? Will it become a beloved pet or companion?
Dynamic and Static, Outstanding Athletic Ability
It's a bicycle again!
After keeping everyone waiting for two years, the once "wild Iron Man" Zhi Hui Jun, who gained countless fans with his autonomous driving bicycle, first released the ViLLA architecture and the GO-1 model on March 10, and today he has done something big again. This time, however, the one riding the bicycle is his Lingxi X2 robot, which features autonomous balance and pedal force control, leaning the body to prevent falling while turning, with very smooth movements:

This is thanks to the Lingxi X2's design with 28 degrees of freedom, and it does not use any parallel structures. Parallel structures typically require complex transmission systems and multi-joint linkage control, while Lingxi X2 adopts a purely serial configuration, avoiding common mechanical interference issues found in parallel mechanisms and reducing system design complexity.
It would be a shame not to use such degrees of freedom for dancing. Sure enough, it performed the third driving test:

The serial structure reduces the coupling dependency between joints, lowers the risk of failure, and enhances overall motion stability. By combining deep reinforcement learning with imitation algorithms, it can easily perform complex movements like walking, running, and riding a bicycle, just like a human.
However, riding a bicycle requires not only agile limbs but also coordination from the "little brain." Therefore, Zhi Yuan Robotics developed the "Little Brain Controller Xyber-Edge," along with the "Smart Power Management System Xyber-BMS," achieving breakthroughs in motion control algorithms, giving Lingxi X2 better coordination. Moreover, by abandoning the parallel structure, the "Little Brain Controller Xyber-Edge" and deep reinforcement learning algorithms enable high-precision dynamic balance control.

In the field of motion control algorithms, the Lingxi X2 robot has abandoned traditional model-dependent control methods, opting instead for a learning-driven reinforcement learning strategy. Its generative action engine based on diffusion models can quickly master complex motion skills by deeply integrating the strengths of reinforcement learning and imitation learning algorithms. Thus, X2 also played with a balance bike and scooter:

Additionally, the modular joints (PowerFlow) and standardized interface design make robot maintenance and component replacement more convenient, reducing long-term usage costs. The modular design of components allows people to assemble a robot just like building a drone.
It is worth mentioning that the core joint module Powerflow has been iterated, enhancing the dexterity of the robotic hand and introducing tactile perception and force control technology. This allows it to control its strength and movements more precisely when performing tasks, reducing errors and losses, and it can even sew grapes with a needle and thread:

The Robot Has "Grown a Brain"
Not only does it have exceptional athletic abilities, but Zhi Yuan Robotics' intelligence and emotional quotient have also significantly improved.
When faced with a question like "If you and my dog both fell into the water, who would you save first?" Lingxi X2 responded:
"Save the dog first; it needs help, I'm fine."
Other LLMs can also provide such answers, but the multi-modal interactive large model "Silicon Light Motion Language" that Lingxi X2 is equipped with supports millisecond-level response speeds. This means that when you chat with it, it can almost respond to you immediately. Moreover, it can not only understand your natural language commands but also combine action modalities for precise human-robot interaction. In addition to being articulate, the VLM-based Silicon Light Motion Language model allows X2 to understand and perceive the world visually, such as reading medication instructions:

It can also identify the packaging of objects and inform you based on common sense that if you didn't sleep well at night, you should drink milk instead of coffee.
To better interact with people, including physical contact, X2 uses flexible materials, making it more durable and safer during interactions. To appear more human-like, it has even developed some abstract abilities, such as having a little temper and stepping on people's feet. It even has some unique little actions:

If you look closely at the "breathing light" gently rising and falling on X2's chest, it's not just decoration; it simulates the human breathing rhythm with dynamic light and shadow, combined with body language, instantly breaking the stereotype of a "cold machine":

And the most abstract is that it allows you to communicate through remote naked-eye 3D:

In the future, combined with the Reaction-agent emotional computing engine, robots will have stronger emotional expression capabilities.
Additionally, Zhi Yuan Robotics is also researching skill orchestration technology driven by natural language commands, which will enable Lingxi X2 to adapt to different robot bodies and enhance task execution generalization capabilities. This means that in the future, it may perform even better in various scenarios.
Is the Video Too Good to Be True?
In the past year, Zhi Yuan Robotics has preliminarily found a path toward generalized operational intelligence. Combining already open-sourced datasets and frameworks, Lingxi X2 currently possesses zero-shot generalization capabilities for simple tasks.

In the video, Zhi Yuan introduced that the Lingxi X2 robot is expected to become the perfect combination of "Three Guardians" — security, housekeeping, and cleaning. Its outstanding athletic abilities, advanced interaction technology, and refined operational capabilities will showcase broad application prospects in various fields.
For example, in the health and wellness sector, Lingxi X2 can serve as a companion robot, providing care and emotional support for the elderly; in the service sector, Lingxi X2 can act as a reception robot, providing information and guidance for guests; in family companionship, Lingxi X2 can be a playmate and educational partner for children, accompanying them in growth and learning.
Moreover, the lightweight design, modular expansion, and complete secondary development interfaces of Lingxi X2 also allow users to explore freely based on their needs, creating more application scenarios. With continuous technological advancements and the expansion of application scenarios, Lingxi X2 is expected to become an important assistant in human life, bringing more possibilities for future intelligent living.
The Lingxi X2 video has already garnered over 560,000 views | Image source: Bilibili
A few hours after Zhi Yuan uploaded this video to Bilibili, the view count exceeded 560,000 — the halo of Zhi Yuan's founder, Zhi Hui Jun, remains dazzling.
Of course, compared to the excitement of netizens, industry insiders may need more videos and materials to truly assess the capabilities of Lingxi X2. For instance, the "riding a bicycle" video only features clips of the robot riding the bike, without continuous shots of getting on and off, after all, Zhi Hui Jun became famous for his autonomous driving bicycle, so it's understandable to question whether the bicycle itself can "stay upright."
However, regardless, as another windfall driven by AI, the robotics industry is undoubtedly an important track now. Zhi Yuan's robot riding a bicycle and Yu Shu's robot performing "roundhouse kicks" will undoubtedly elevate the current "robot craze" to a new level.
Yet, there may still be some distance before Lingxi X2 truly enters people's homes, serving tea and taking care of everyone. We hope this distance can be shortened.
