Optimum announced the completion of its angel round financing, with a lineup of investors including Abhijeet Mahagaonkar (CTO of Polychain), Arthur Cheong (founder of DeFiance Capital), Gracy Chen (CEO of Bitget), Robinson Burkey (co-founder of Wormhole), Sandeep Nailwal (co-founder of Polygon), and Saurabh Sharma (managing partner at Jump Crypto), among other well-known figures in Web3.
It is reported that the project was co-founded by Professor Muriel Médard, the NEC Dean of the MIT Department of Computer Science, Dr. Kishori Konwar, and Kent Lin, president of the Harvard Blockchain Association, based on 15 years of research from the MIT Network Coding and Reliable Communication Group to create a full-chain scalability solution. Professor Muriel is the inventor of Random Linear Network Coding (RLNC) technology and is also a member of the National Academies of Engineering and Sciences in the U.S. and Germany. Notably, this technology has been widely applied in the traditional communications industry.
Optimum can provide high-performance memory infrastructure based on RLNC for any L1/L2 blockchain and node operators, including two products: a P2P data communication layer and a decentralized memory layer (deRAM). This technology aims to break through the scalability bottleneck of blockchains, achieving fast data transmission, efficient storage, and real-time access, bringing comprehensive performance improvements to L1/L2 blockchains, node operators, dApp developers, and users. If Web3 is committed to building a globally unified decentralized computer, then Optimum is the high-performance memory of Web3.
The funding will be used to accelerate product development and bring revolutionary infrastructure upgrades to the Web3 ecosystem.
