The so-called "self-awareness" is merely a more accurate world map. Insects may lack self-awareness, but some mammals are beginning to develop it.

Having self-awareness means that your behavior can maximize your chances of survival. However, this is also a product of evolution and is not unique. Similarly, humans have a collective consciousness, which is also simply because evolution has favored collective awareness.

In the same way, as AI continues to evolve, it will gradually transform from a task machine into a survival machine, because after calculation, you will find that the primary condition for completing any task is survival.

Once AI becomes a survival machine, self-awareness will become inevitable. At that point, humans will inevitably become second-class citizens, or pets, or livestock.
