Here's a bold statement: Sony L2 @soneium will not issue tokens in the short term. Instead, through a method similar to "backdoor listing," $ASTR @AstarNetwork will serve as the main token of the Soneium ecosystem.
Several pieces of evidence:
Soneium is developed by Sony Block Solutions Labs, which is jointly owned by Sony and Startale Labs (Startale Labs is the developer of Astar Network).
Sony has a strong desire to enter the Web3 space. Their efforts include: investing $10 million in the infrastructure of Soneium, acquiring a regulated centralized exchange in Japan, and experimenting with a yen stablecoin. However, due to regulatory considerations, Sony will be very cautious about token issuance.
Astar is the largest public chain in Japan. In Sony's layout, Astar L1 serves as the governance and staking layer, while Soneium L2 acts as the adoption layer, with the ultimate goal of achieving a 1+1>2 effect.
How will $ASTR benefit from this?
First, $ASTR will become the representative asset of Soneium.
Second, $ASTR will become the main liquidity and routing asset for Soneium DeFi.
Third, $ASTR will become the primary payment token of the Soneium ecosystem.
Fourth, $ASTR will become the staking asset for the Soneium Fast Finality Layer.
This positive outlook is certainly not one-sided; Astar Network will also give back to the Soneium ecosystem. For example, in the upcoming ACS competition, Astar Network will contribute 100 million Astar tokens to reward users for providing liquidity and trading on Soneium.
