During the AMA, YZ first explained the difference between the Roam Pilot burning pool and the official burning pool:
Compared to the official burning pool, the Pilot burning pool is designed to help users familiarize themselves with the working mechanism and related operational processes of the burning pool. Therefore, the Pilot burning pool has not yet introduced a difficulty adjustment mechanism, while the official burning pool after the TGE will formally include dynamic difficulty adjustments to ensure token releases are more aligned with market conditions. Additionally, the total amount of tokens released in each burning cycle of the Pilot burning pool will remain consistent with the total release amount of the first burning cycle after the official burning pool goes live, with subsequent cycles in the official burning pool being dynamically adjusted. Since Roam has not yet undergone TGE, the $ROAM tokens obtained by users in the Pilot burning pool will be claimable through the App account after the TGE.
Q 1: What are the most common issues users encountered during this event? What are the main reasons?
YZ: In the past few days, we have identified some issues faced by users. Some are related to the project itself, while others may stem from our community promotion efforts, which still have room for improvement, leading to users not fully understanding the rules and operational processes.
Miner Pool: The miner pool only supports burning Roam Points obtained through Roam mining machines (Rainier MAX60, Baker MAX30, MetaBlox OG). For example, if an account has a total of 200,000 Roam Points, but only 15,000 were obtained through Roam mining machines, only those 15,000 Roam Points can be burned in the miner pool, and the remaining points cannot be used in the miner pool.
Sticker Pool: Stickers only determine the amount of Roam Points a user can burn. If you have a sticker but insufficient Roam Points, you still cannot participate in the burn. Similarly, if you have more than 500 Roam Points but not enough stickers, you need to collect more stickers before participating in the sticker pool.
48-Hour Lock Rule: All Roam Points must remain in the account for 48 hours before they can be used for burning. The system updates the Roam Points balance daily at 00:00 UTC, and only points that have undergone two updates can be used for burning. For example, if the current time is Tuesday 00:00 UTC, only Roam Points obtained before Saturday 00:00 UTC can be used for burning. Therefore, when participating in the burning pool, the total balance of Roam Points in the account may differ from the actual burnable points.
Although some issues arose during the process, they have all been resolved. The main purpose of the Pilot burning pool is to optimize the mechanism through testing, and we greatly appreciate user feedback and support. Overall, I believe the performance of the economic model meets expectations.
Q 2: Some users reported that their Roam Points exceeded 500 but could not burn; what could be the reason?
YZ: One possible reason is that users selected the wrong burning pool. The miner burning pool is limited to users who own Roam mining machines; if you do not have a mining machine, you cannot burn Roam Points in that pool. Therefore, please be sure to read the rules of each burning pool carefully before operating to ensure you meet the participation criteria.
Overall, this is not a systemic bug. Currently, about 10,000 users participate in the burning pool every minute, and if it were a systemic issue, we would receive a large number of feedback.
Q 3: Some users reported that their account points showed as 0 or negative; why is that?
YZ: We did find some cases of abnormal points for certain users. The system mistakenly issued 460 Roam Points, causing many users to receive extra points in a short period. Our operations team identified the issue within 5 minutes and quickly rolled back the points to the correct values. However, during this period, about 300 users completed burns and claimed tokens due to the mistakenly issued Roam Points. Although the impact was small, to ensure fairness, we rolled back the relevant accounts, so some users' points may temporarily show as 0.
Q 4: How is the overall performance of the Pilot burning pool currently?
YZ: The Pilot burning pool has only been live for 16 hours, and the total burning amount has exceeded 61 million Roam Points. At most, 15,000 users participated simultaneously in a single cycle (approximately 17 minutes).
Additionally, most burning activities are concentrated during the active hours of Asian users, particularly in South Korea and Southeast Asia, where the community is most active.
Q 5: How can users maximize their burning returns? Any suggestions?
YZ: The most important thing is to pay attention to the performance of each burning pool and choose the right timing to burn. I recommend testing 10 cycles first, observing the changes in token returns, and then adjusting your strategy. If you have a large number of Roam Points, I personally suggest not to invest all at once in the same cycle, as the overall return rate is greatly affected by external factors. A more robust approach is to spread Roam Points across 500 to 1,000 cycles. This is also a common strategy among some large holders. This method can make returns more predictable and stable while reducing the impact of market fluctuations. Although there is no fixed optimal solution for burning strategies, through continuous optimization, we can find a method that suits ourselves better.
Q 6: Based on user feedback, what optimizations will the official burning pool have in the future?
YZ: Based on user feedback, we plan to implement the following optimizations:
Remove the burning limit for stickers: Currently, a single burn supports a maximum of 50 stickers, allowing for a maximum burn of 5,000 Roam Points. This limitation reduces the efficiency of burning, and we plan to remove this cap to make sticker burning more flexible.
Optimize the operational experience: In future versions, users will be able to directly input the burning cycle and point amount without needing to drag and select, improving interaction efficiency.
Additionally, regarding the performance of the miner burning pool, I personally believe it is performing well at the moment. Although the total burning points in the miner pool are 10 million, I do not think this is the final data. I have spoken with many mining machine owners, and they are currently only investing a small amount of Roam Points for testing, which may increase further in the future. Therefore, I am very much looking forward to seeing the contributions of mining machine users to the burning pool in the future and how they will affect the overall return rate.
