What are the core differences between blockchain and Web2?

It's not about decentralization, but openness.

Data is open; any program can access the data of any other smart contract.

Interfaces are also open; you can just call them.

How is this different from Web2 APIs?

Web2 APIs are "selectively open"; what you see is just a subset, and it may change. In blockchain, what you see is the complete set, and it generally won't change (of course, smart contracts can also be upgraded).

This raises another question: since openness and sharing are the core advantages of blockchain, isn't the previous model of "each for their own" based on public chains rather foolish? It's a bit like Chiang Kai-shek's idea of first securing the interior before dealing with external threats; you haven't achieved anything and are already dividing among yourselves.

Of course, this is also human nature, but the lack of good cross-chain solutions in the industry so far is a core constraint on the development of blockchain. In this regard, I believe Ethereum has a responsibility, as I have never seen such things in Ethereum's roadmap.

To put it another way, can the internet develop if it is not interconnected? What kind of development is that?
