On January 22, LINE NEXT, a subsidiary of the globally leading social messaging application LINE focused on Web3 ecosystem development, announced the launch of Mini Dapps in collaboration with the Kaia blockchain, bringing a more convenient Web3 service experience to users worldwide.
This new feature is very similar to WeChat Mini Programs and Telegram Mini-Apps, allowing users to access it directly through the official Dapp Portal account on LINE without downloading additional applications, covering multiple categories such as games, social media, and content. At the same time, the mini program features a built-in wallet function, natively enabling transactions and rewards for virtual assets and NFTs.
Could this be a new wave of TG mini programs? Before that, let's understand the background.
What is LINE? What is Kaia? What is LINE Mini Program (Mini-Dapp)?
Kaia blockchain is a Layer-1 blockchain platform launched in collaboration between South Korean social giant Kakao and Japanese instant messaging application LINE, formed by integrating Kakao's Klaytn chain and LINE's Finschia blockchain, aiming to provide a high-performance, low-latency, and developer-friendly environment for Web3 applications. The Kaia blockchain can process about 4,000 transactions per second, is fully EVM compatible, has transaction fees as low as one-tenth of Ethereum, and supports multi-key account setups. Its native token KAIA can be used to pay transaction fees, participate in network governance, and stake for rewards.
As of the time of publication, the Kaia token is reported to be around $0.2, having previously surpassed $0.4 in the last three months.

LINE is an instant messaging application developed by Japan's LINE Corporation, first launched in 2011. It offers free chat, voice calls, and video calls, and supports stickers and emojis. In addition to basic communication functions, LINE integrates various features such as social media, payment services (LINE Pay), games, news, and e-commerce, forming a diversified digital ecosystem, roughly equivalent to another WeChat in Asia.
LINE has a large user base in Asian countries such as Japan, Taiwan, Thailand, and Indonesia, making it one of the most popular communication tools in the region: In Japan, LINE has about 93 million monthly active users, with a penetration rate of 92.5%, covering about 70% of the population; in Taiwan, its penetration rate is as high as 95.7%, making it the most popular communication tool locally; while in Thailand, the number of users is about 53 million, with a penetration rate of 80%. This means that in positioning, LINE and WeChat are very similar, and the ecosystem is highly sticky, enough to stand shoulder to shoulder with Telegram.
Therefore, the proposal to create a Telegram Mini-App on LINE naturally emerged. This feature was officially launched a few days ago, so let's take a look at what mini programs are available and whether they will lead to a new wave of TON like Telegram Mini-App.
According to official news from LINE NEXT, the first batch of 32 Mini Dapps was developed through the Kaia Wave program jointly operated by LINE NEXT and the Kaia Foundation, as well as LINE NEXT's software development kit (SDK). The official release from LINE listed five flagship mini programs, which will be experienced one by one below.
Wallet Connection and User Onboarding
In terms of wallet connection, the collaboration between Kaia and LINE has simplified many steps, making it possible for new users who have never interacted with Web3 to get started directly. In the wallet connection pop-up, users can connect directly to OKX Wallet (tested on iPhone, which directly redirects to OKX Wallet for connection operations, providing a very smooth overall experience), or create a new wallet on Kaia using their LINE account, requiring a long password and a six-digit short password. All daily signatures and other operations can be completed by entering this six-digit short password, which is very convenient.
It is important to note that this LINE automatically generated wallet, while being an EVM wallet, is not a full-chain wallet like OKX Wallet, but only supports assets on the Kaia chain, which also includes assets from the pre-integration Klaytn and Finschia. Similar to other existing social software wallet connection solutions, this wallet is also strongly bound to the user's LINE account.
Interestingly, regarding account deposits and withdrawals, the LINE mini program center supports general Swap functions, fiat currency deposits (which can use all mainstream payment solutions currently available in Europe and the US, including Visa and Apple Pay), supported by Alchemy Pay; while for withdrawals, the page indicates that funds need to be withdrawn from exchanges that have already listed Kaia, including all mainstream exchanges in South Korea and Japan, as well as Binance, OKX, etc.
Bombie and Cattea
According to official news, Bombie and Cattea are mini application projects developed by Pluto Studio, attracting 43 million users in just six months and setting a record for the highest sales.
Cattea is an application that most readers are likely familiar with; this mini program named Cattea (Cat Tea) is a copy of "Sheep's Game." The gameplay of Cattea is simple and straightforward, starting with a simple tutorial level before entering a second stage of the game where the difficulty increases dramatically, but the blocks are stacked in layers, making it hard to actually win the game. At the same time, the image elements contain a lot of Web3 elements, including Bitcoin logos, Kaia logos, Dogecoin, Shiba Inu, PEPE, etc. Similarly, Cattea can also earn tokens through various tasks, and the token settlement occurs every time a pair of three patterns is eliminated, rather than needing to win a game. These tokens can also be used to purchase items like removal and shuffling.

Bombie's overall gameplay is similar to the previously popular Tap-tap game on Telegram, where players can upgrade equipment in their slots by continuously opening airdrop boxes. If they open low-level equipment, they can sell it, while high-level equipment can be equipped and upgraded for monster fighting. Theoretically, airdrop boxes can be exhausted; however, in the game, players will continuously receive airdrop boxes through various rewards and upgrade paths, making it essentially no different from other Tap-Tap games. However, in actual experience, Bombie's task system is very diverse, with various tasks to complete, and characters, equipment, and airdrop boxes can all be upgraded to provide rewards, offering substantial feedback.

These games all come with social features, allowing players to see their friends' scores in the same game on LINE and earn rewards by inviting friends.
Captain Tsubasa -RIVALS
Captain Tsubasa -RIVALS- on LINE is a game based on the popular football manga "Captain Tsubasa"; the gameplay combines football management and Tap-Tap, centered around something called "football coins": players can earn football coins by continuously clicking on the football player Tsubasa's image on the game homepage, as well as through daily tasks and winning streaks. Meanwhile, on another manager page, players can upgrade passive benefits by recruiting, training, assigning coaches, and upgrading stadiums, meaning they can earn football coins even without clicking the screen.

Currently, the official X account of the game has over 600K followers.
Superz
Superz is a health and fitness Dapp designed for non-crypto users, integrating fitness habits with real rewards. The homepage features a game where a little rabbit runs, similar to a Tap-tap game, but with slightly different interaction methods. However, on another page, there is a beta version of Move-to-earn; users need to open the camera and earn more game coins by doing squats to continue playing.

Currently, SuperZ has around 40,000 users.
In the LINE mini program center page, several mini programs are running activities, with a total reward of about 569 KAIA, worth approximately $113.8. According to LINE NEXT's press release, the company plans to launch over 1,000 projects by the end of 2025. As for whether the mini programs themselves will issue tokens and create a new wave of wealth effect, Odaily Planet Daily will continue to monitor and report.
