In a comment at the end of yesterday's article, one remark stated:
"Ultimately, we must return to the ecosystem; AI Agents are the main narrative of the bull market. Even someone as impressive as Trump posting memes is just a trend."
I agree with this viewpoint.
Market trends cannot rely on meme coins for daily motivation; to drive the market, we need a stable development and continuously innovative application.
I don't know if AI agents are the main narrative of this round, but their development is indeed changing rapidly.
I was first amazed by the development of AI agents when I saw an AI agent set up by Coinbase perform an on-chain transfer, which made me realize the possibility of AI agents engaging in autonomous activities on-chain.
Yesterday, AI agents achieved another very meaningful application scenario.
In the crypto ecosystem, we have all heard the story of 10,000 bitcoins buying a pizza. The reason this story is forever remembered is that it marked Bitcoin's transition from "nothing" to "value."
Although the value presented by Bitcoin in that event was quite insignificant, it was a process from zero to one. With this step, we later saw the journey from one to ten thousand, and even more grand and glorious chapters.
This time, AI agents also realized an application scenario that had never been achieved before:
They helped humans buy pizza from a physical store.
This application scenario was again created by Coinbase, specifically by Coinbase's star engineer, Jesse Pollak.
For detailed information about this event, please refer to the reference link at the end of the article.
In this application scenario, Jesse placed an order with the Virtual agent LUNA to buy pizza.
LUNA forwarded this request to another agent responsible for off-chain delivery activities (@___BYTE___). The delivery agent processed the request and sent Jesse a payment receipt. After Jesse made the payment, the request was directly sent to a physical pizza store in Berkeley, California.
The subsequent process was just like our current delivery process.
Finally, Jesse shared a photo on Twitter of himself happily eating pizza.
There are several details in this process worth noting:
Jesse paid not with fiat currency, but with cryptocurrency—stablecoin USDC.
This process involved two AI agents: LUNA coordinated, while @___BYTE___ handled the actual business. The reason for needing two AI agents is that @___BYTE___ cannot yet directly accept human requests, so LUNA had to coordinate in the middle.
In this event, the breakthroughs of AI agents in application scenarios, in my view, are as follows:
First, it achieved interaction between on-chain and off-chain.
As I recall, since the ICO boom in 2017, countless pioneers have hoped to apply blockchain technology off-chain and into real life, but ultimately, the vast majority became "martyrs."
This time, it succeeded.
The specific points of success are:
- It used crypto assets for payment.
- The AI agent used was developed through financing with crypto assets.
Secondly, AI agents perfectly interacted and coordinated in a real application scenario.
In the current wave of AI agents' rise, since the introduction of the multi-agent framework by SWARMS, new similar frameworks have been emerging continuously, but I had not seen any real multi-agent coordination cases that generated application value before this.
This is the first real case I have seen that generated application value.
Finally, stablecoin payment was realized in this scenario—Jesse used USDC for payment.
However, I still have some questions: In this scenario, do we have to pay with stablecoins? Is it possible to use fiat currency?
If the only reason for using stablecoins is to use stablecoins, I think the significance is limited. If it is necessary to pay with cryptocurrency and use stablecoins, then I think it is extraordinarily meaningful.
This question seems to lack more clues in the currently revealed information.
Regarding the comprehensive and intelligent handling of human daily life by AI agents, I have heard many (mainly internet) tech bloggers express their visions and aspirations about this last year.
But now that it has come so quickly, I am quite surprised.
I wonder, if this process is further optimized and efficiency is improved, what kind of competition will Meituan, which we use today, face?
What kind of competition will our country’s once-proud mobile internet applications face from the United States?
Additionally, if AI agents can help us order food today, they will certainly be able to help us book travel, services, and even reshape all the services that the mobile internet has already realized, with even higher efficiency and simpler processes.
This will once again spark a revolution in the mobile internet, but this time, the revolution will be initiated by the collaboration of crypto assets and AI agents.
