Movement Network Foundation is an organization dedicated to promoting innovation and advancing MoveVM technology. Today, it announced the successful launch of Movement Labs Movement Mainnet Beta and the token generation event (TGE) for $MOVE, marking an important milestone for the first Move-based blockchain successfully connecting to Ethereum.
The launch of Mainnet Beta represents the first phase of Movement's production infrastructure. In this phase, infrastructure providers can deploy essential network components, including follower nodes, RPC nodes, and indexers. Network operators will focus on two key tasks: ensuring the correct synchronization of the network and validating security measures. This managed launch environment lays the groundwork for Movement's innovative “postconfirmations” mechanism, which can achieve transaction finality in just one second—much faster than existing Ethereum scaling solutions, which may take minutes or even days.
The Movement Foundation is launching the $MOVE token through its MoveDrop program, distributing up to 1 billion MOVE tokens to the community (10% of the maximum supply). MoveDrop rewards meaningful participation and genuine technical contributions, aiming to build a community-driven network that allows token holders to actively participate in protecting network infrastructure and governance, reflecting Movement's commitment to sustainable ecosystem development.
Unlike isolated next-generation Layer 1 blockchains, Movement introduces a solution designed to enhance Ethereum's potential. Movement integrates directly with Ethereum, leveraging its powerful network effects and security while expanding the pool of secure and innovative applications. Through Movement, all Move developers naturally become Ethereum developers.
“What makes Movement unique is our vision for the true practicality of Ethereum,” said Rushi Manche, co-founder of Movement Labs. “By introducing the Move language to the EVM, we are not just creating another L2; we are building a bridge that transforms every Move developer into an Ethereum developer, significantly expanding the ecosystem's potential.”
At the core of Movement's appeal is the Move programming language, developed for Meta's Diem project, praised for its enhanced security and expressiveness. Move's resource-oriented programming model is designed to ensure secure and bug-free smart contract development, eliminating over 90% of audit priority attack vectors.
“The strength of Movement lies in our active community of over 800 builders and more than 840 contributors who have walked this journey with us,” said Cooper Scanlon, co-founder of Movement Labs. “The launch of Mainnet Beta and MoveDrop aims to empower developers and users to shape the future of Ethereum scaling together. Whether you are building, testing new protocols, creating content, or participating in governance on the Movement Network, there is a place for you in our ecosystem.”
To celebrate this milestone, the Movement Network Foundation also announced its first NFT program—a community-driven competition aimed at creating official commemorative artwork for the Mainnet Beta launch.
“Our community is crucial in building Movement, so it is only fitting that they create artwork to commemorate this historic moment,” Scanlon added. “This genesis NFT will be a testament to the creativity of our ecosystem.” The winning design will be minted as Movement's first NFT, and the top three submitters will receive a $1,000 prize.
