In the future cyber society, AI, as an important component of human interaction, will naturally make infrastructure development a key breakthrough. The demand for massive computing and reasoning services generated by model operations is also booming. As an AI-as-a-Service infrastructure in the Web3 space, the decentralized AI cloud computing protocol Heurist recently announced the completion of a $2 million funding round with participation from several institutions including Amber Group, Contango Digital, Manifold Trading, and Selini Capital. What excellent infrastructure will they bring to future crypto users and AI developers?
Infrastructure
With the rapid development of generative AI, the global market size is expected to reach $356.1 billion by 2030. This is accompanied by a rapid increase in demand for computing resources and reasoning services.
Currently, many AI models run on traditional centralized cloud services, and there are several issues with accessing these services:
- Centralization Risk: In centralized cloud services, all data and computing are concentrated in a single data center, making them vulnerable to single points of failure. Additionally, all data is stored in one location, increasing the risk of data breaches and misuse.
- High Costs: Running AI models requires a significant amount of computing resources, especially when training large models, which consumes a lot of GPU and CPU resources. The costs of these resources are high, particularly for businesses that need to continuously run and update models, leading to long-term high operational costs.
- Low Resource Utilization: In traditional centralized cloud services, uneven loads during AI model training and reasoning lead to insufficient resources during peak times and wasted resources during idle times. Furthermore, resource contention between services can prevent resources from being fully utilized, further reducing resource utilization.
As an AI-as-a-Service infrastructure, Heurist allows GPU owners to provide computing resources without permission through the DePIN protocol architecture and opens APIs for users and developers to access and run AI models based on these computing resources.
Computing Layer
The computing layer consists of computing nodes, Pods, and a verification system. Computing nodes serve as the basic unit, allowing computing providers (miners) to join in a permissionless and indefinite manner.
General Model of Pods
Pods are independent deployable workload units that use GPUs. Through Pods, users can specify certain computing requirements to match corresponding nodes, supporting automatic load adjustment, and can be used in AI model operation, fine-tuning, and ZK proof generation. Meanwhile, Heurist employs cryptoeconomic verification to ensure the integrity and reliability of computing results.
Orchestration Layer
Heurist builds a ZK Stack to provide a high-throughput and low-cost environment while offering users sovereign isolation for interoperability, ensuring stability in operations and resource management. Additionally, for on-chain sorters, transaction computations are executed off-chain first, and then recorded on-chain after successful computation and execution, which reduces the execution costs of transaction failures.
Application Layer
Any user can build a front end on the application layer, while Heurist provides two modes of payment gateways, allowing developers to either prepay a certain amount of resources in the form of computing credits or distribute costs to users to pay directly based on usage, with the latter also providing autonomous payment options for AI Agents.
In summary, Heurist's advantages lie in its decentralized architecture, which enhances the system's fault tolerance and data security, while reducing operational costs by utilizing idle computing resources. Dynamic resource allocation improves resource utilization, and load adjustment features enhance the system's flexibility and scalability. The cryptoeconomic verification built with the ZK Stack ensures the integrity and reliability of computing results, allowing the entire system to efficiently and securely adapt to various workload demands, providing a stable experience for users and developers.
Products and Applications
Currently, mainstream applications built on Heurist include Heurist Imagine (AI NFT art creation), Pondera (AI conversation), Heurist Search (AI search), and Babel Bot (Discord translation bot), covering mainstream AI use cases. With decentralized GPU computing, overall cost efficiency is significantly improved compared to closed-source models. In addition to common raw image models, Heurist also offers fine-tuned models focused on Web3 Agents and IP, such as the Theia language model developed by Chainbase, the ZKsync ecosystem native IP Zeek model, and the Magus Devon model created by the Forgotten Runes community. Heurist drives various AI Agents built on the blockchain through these highly customized Web3 AI models, which are composable and censorship-resistant, leveraging on-chain GPU computing to significantly enhance overall cost efficiency compared to closed-source models, making it the model and computing layer of the AI Agent ecosystem.
Ecosystem Development
In terms of economic system construction, the future native token HEU of Heurist can be used to pay for computing resource fees, serve as gas costs for user transactions, and support staking and governance functions. In terms of share allocation, the emission scale for computing power providers is 50%, while early community allocation (including early miners and NFT holders) accounts for 7%. Heurist's flexible token release rules will dynamically adjust the annual inflation rate between 1.25% and 5%, achieving elastic scaling of computing resources to adapt to changing computing demands.
Heurist issued the community Heurist Imaginaries NFT during its early construction phase, consisting of 500 AI-generated artworks. The airdrop plan includes a total of 1.75% HEU tokens for holders of this series.
Heurist has established partnerships with multiple organizations across various fields. In GPU computing power, Heurist collaborates with companies like Aethir, Exabits, Spheron, and Mintair to provide robust computing resources, laying the foundation for AI model training and reasoning networks. In the AI and data infrastructure sector, Heurist has partnered with GenLayer, Chasm Network, Aizel, and Gateway Network to ensure efficient and secure data flow.
In consumer applications, Heurist collaborates with companies like CreatorBid, Arbus AI, DecentAI, and Eden Art to bring AI technology to a broader consumer market. In the application of AI Agents, Heurist provides customized raw image models for CreatorBid, particularly tailored services for the WallStreetBets brand. Through these collaborations, the Heurist platform is continuously expanding its influence, promoting the application and development of AI technology across various fields.
On the roadmap, the project plans to issue tokens in Q4 2024, distribute the first season of mining token airdrops, and launch developer API payment functions. In 2025, staking functions will be initiated, followed by subsequent mining and ZK chain launches, along with user payment functions and validator systems. Users can participate by contributing GPUs (with 12 GB of memory or more, such as GTX 3090 or 4090), participating in the Intract points activity, and engaging in the Create-to-earn activities within Heurist Imagine to mint AI NFTs and earn ZK tokens.
Conclusion
The future cyber society will increasingly rely on the interaction between AI and humans, and Heurist addresses the centralization risks, high costs, and low resource utilization issues of traditional centralized cloud services, providing a new way for AI developers and users to utilize computing resources. It is expected to become a bridge connecting AI technology with the future, promoting society towards a more intelligent direction and providing solid technical support for building a smarter, interconnected, and secure cyber society.
