Where have all the airdrops gone?

Recently, airdrop farmers have been disappointed by the lower-than-expected allocations of popular airdrops like Scroll and Grass. Although the sentiment around airdrop farming is generally pessimistic, there are still reasons to remain hopeful.

  • The market is warming up, and teams that have been delaying TGE may start airdropping tokens.
  • Bullish price trends mean that new airdrop tokens are less likely to be immediately sold off.
  • There are still many excellent protocols that have yet to issue tokens.

Our team has compiled a list of 77 potential airdrops that you can start farming from today.

First, let's take a look at the airdrop farming landscape at the end of 2024.

1. Airdrop Types

Airdrop farming strategies can be roughly divided into four categories: testnets, tasks, staking, and protocol usage.

(1) Testnets

Many people like testnet airdrops for a simple reason: they are free.

Due to the free nature of testnets and the surge in airdrop farming in recent years, many testnets now have hundreds of thousands or even millions of active addresses.

With a few exceptions like Sonic, most testnets do not promise to distribute airdrops to users, so if you use a testnet, you may spend a lot of time completing tasks without any economic benefits.

In your airdrop farming plan, testnets fall into one of the following two situations:

  • You are starting from scratch and want to obtain some cryptocurrency as startup capital (even in this case, your time spent working might be better spent, then directly buying cryptocurrency with your earnings).
  • You are relaxed and just want to earn some extra cryptocurrency through a simple method while trying out a new network. This is also the only time I use testnets.

(2) Tasks

As the name suggests, these are social and on-chain tasks given to you by the protocol.

The rewards for these tasks are usually Discord badges, commemorative NFTs, or "points."

These rewards are typically free (or require a small amount of funds to redeem), but I have a much better attitude towards them than towards testnets.

The reason I prefer task-based airdrops over testnets is simple. First, task-based protocols are more straightforward in expressing their intention to reward participants. Second, tasks are often designed not only to reward users but also to help them better understand the protocol—tasks guide participants to use the protocol and consume content related to it. If I were a crypto newbie looking for a starting point, tasks would be a great choice.

(3) Staking

This involves staking one token in hopes of receiving another airdrop token from its ecosystem.

Staking airdrops have historically been most common in the Cosmos ecosystem, where stakers of ATOM, OSMO, TIA, and other Cosmos chains have reaped a large number of airdrop tokens.

The most popular airdrop staking tokens this year are those with large ecosystems, such as TIA, DYM, and PYTH.

While this method still holds potential, protocols have generally become stricter in distributing airdrops to stakers, as many people stake across 5, 10, or even over 100 wallets.

(4) Protocol Usage

This type of airdrop actually has a lot of value potential (at least some of them do).

You can think of protocol usage airdrops as a form of liquidity mining. You do not receive liquidity mining incentives continuously; instead, you will either receive them all at once later or at the end of each "epoch."

But which protocols might release airdrops? How do you know which ones are worth farming?

The easiest way to discover potential airdrop protocols is to look at those that do not yet have tokens. DefiLlama's airdrop dashboard has a fantastic list.

But even on this list, there are over 1500 tokenless protocols. How do you know which ones are worth farming?

In general, I look for three conditions suitable for airdrop farming within protocols:

  • No tokens. If a protocol already has tokens, the chances of future airdrops are significantly lower. There are very few exceptions.
  • Few wallets. Remember Jito? Even small-scale traders with just $100 stored received five-figure airdrops. The reason is that, despite being one of the largest DeFi applications on Solana, it actually has only about 10,000 users.
  • Generates (or has the potential to generate) high fees. The most valuable airdrops come from protocols that generate significant fees. If a protocol does not generate fees, it is unlikely to have a high market cap, and if it does not have a high market cap, the airdrop is unlikely to be of much value. If it does not generate fees now but is expected to see significant growth in the future, it is still worth farming. Some people started farming Jito last summer. As the Solana network grew, Jito also expanded, and these individuals have already gained an advantage in accumulating Jito airdrop points.

2. Where to Find Airdrops?

There are two good places to look for profitable airdrops: growing chains and killer applications.

Solana has released a series of valuable airdrops this year and last year because it has experienced exponential growth. Before that, Arbitrum's airdrops were profitable because it was a widely used chain, and its airdrops came after a year of sustained growth. Some airdrop chains I am currently considering include Base, Sui, and Stacks.

Uniswap's app is famously high-value and widely spread. This is because Uniswap was the leading crypto application in 2020 and is one of the most important dApps of all time. The main issue with farming killer applications is that if these applications have already found their appeal, there is no reason to issue tokens. Fortunately, these applications often provide fun for users (I think of pump dot fun and Polymarket), so if you are active in the crypto space, you may encounter them in some way.

3. 77 Potential Airdrops for 2025

To help you better navigate your airdrop farming journey, I have compiled a list of 77 potential airdrops.

This resource includes the following information for each airdrop:

  • Protocol name
  • Protocol Twitter link
  • Category (testnet / task / protocol usage)
  • Airdrop guide (external guide links for each airdrop)
  • Airdrop farming tasks
  • Cost (free / requires funds)
  • Chain

The purpose of publishing this list is to help you find airdrops that align with your goals and beliefs, and then start farming.
