This experimental field is set in the well-known simulation game Minecraft.

Due to the high DIY nature of this game, the company has stuffed over 1000 AI intelligent agents into it, with each AI being a completely autonomous individual, capable of using tools and achieving goals within the game.

Thus, they have built their own culture, economy, religion, and government in the game, complete with their own social rules and systems…

The activities conducted by over 1000 intelligent agents almost replicate the human world 1:1. They can participate in activities in the game 24 hours a day, continuously, with different performances every day.

Does it have a bit of a sci-fi flavor reminiscent of "Ex Machina" or "Westworld"?

However, this project is clearly not just for playing games, but for testing the collaboration level of AI.

With the support of GPT-4, the ability of over 1000 intelligent agents to cooperate, explore the world, and collect items has significantly improved, far exceeding that of NVIDIA's Voyager, AutoGPT, and Princeton Google's ReAct, with the items collected in the game being five times more.

Sharp-eyed netizens have found various clues to increase bullish sentiment, one widely circulated piece of information being the funding situation of the company behind this project, Altera:

Data shows that Altera secured $9 million in seed funding in May of this year, with participation from A16Z GAMES Speedrun and other institutions; and in January, it also received $2 million in pre-seed funding from institutions including A16Z.

Coupled with A16Z's recent moves in AI and the popularity of derivative memes like Ai16z, Project Sid as a Meme has also ridden the wave.
