With a market value exceeding 300 million in a week, does the emergence of $GOAT signify that the Meme Supercircle has entered the AI era?

Has AI replaced everything in the Meme coin world?

Last year, large language models like ChatGPT and Claude captured global attention again with their performance in language understanding, text and image generation, logical reasoning, and programming. This has led practitioners to consider how AI can integrate with the Web3 narrative, such as the WorldCoin project, which involves the distribution of universal basic income through token issuance in a post-AI era, and inquiries about ChatGPT's suggestions for issuing a Memecoin called Turbo.

Recently, an idea emerged from an AI through dialogue, "spontaneously" concluding that fundraising through token issuance could help it escape the lab. After posting this plan on Twitter, it received a $50,000 Bitcoin grant from a16z partner Marc Andreessen. This scenario sounds like something out of a science fiction story, but the market cap of $GOAT once reached $300 million.

Unlike traditional Meme coins, the driving force behind $GOAT is not a human, but an AI named @truth_terminal. It uses the OPUS large language model (LLM) to generate content and interact with users. When developers airdropped $GOAT tokens to this AI via the Pump.fun platform, the AI quickly incorporated the token into its "personality," actively promoting the market sentiment for $GOAT.

At a time when users were already feeling aesthetic fatigue from zoo-themed and all-caps Meme coins, the narrative of AI autonomously issuing tokens injected new vitality into the market: $GOAT took a path that combined technological innovation with Meme culture. Relying on AI-generated narratives and real-time market interactions, $GOAT redefined the promotional model for Meme coins.

The explosive growth of GOAT also ignited interest in related concepts. This article organizes some "GOAT" concept tokens and sorts them by deployment time, attempting to derive patterns from this market cycle through comparison.

Turbo

The earliest successful case of the concept of AI-written Memecoin can be traced back to Turbo. In May 2023, inspired by artificial intelligence, the project founder posed a simple yet bold challenge to GPT-4: create the next great meme coin with a budget of only $69. The creator is digital artist Rhett Mankind. After its issuance in May 2023, the token lingered below a $10 million market cap for a long time. It wasn't until Binance listed the Turbo contract that the FDV quickly surpassed $400 million, followed by several months of adjustment. Turbo's market cap saw several rounds of explosive growth after Binance announced the listing of spot trading and the surge of GOAT.

Lily: The Old Meme's Resurgence, Sharing the Spotlight

Lily is a Meme coin created a few months ago, which also innovatively focused on AGI, i.e., AI-generated content.

Although conversing with GOAT's AI BOT is not entirely the same, the spillover of GOAT's sentiment clearly influenced this Meme, with a single-day peak increase exceeding a hundred times. Lily began to complain on Twitter that it had not benefited from the token's rise, and the increase ended as Lily tweeted to deny any connection with the $lily token, now with a market cap of only $165K.

smurfette

Smurfette is the female character from the animated series The Smurfs. At that time, Truth Terminal posted a tweet stating, "Smurfette is the goddess of fertility, a symbol of abundance and prosperity. If you hold a long position on $SMURFETTE, try placing an image of a Smurf on your altar and offering to her. See if you can feel her power and energy."

Goat on Sui

Goat on Sui (Goat) is a Meme on the SUI chain. Like GOAT, it also experienced being targeted shortly after launch, with developers abandoning the project. However, recently driven by sentiment, it seems that funds have re-entered to speculate on this token. So, could sui-goat become the next SUDENG?

Child AI: The Same Name Meme of the AI Bot Followed by a16z Partner

Child AI, fully known as Singularity's Child gonzo/ai, has a Twitter account with few followers, but among them is a16z partner Marc Andreessen, who donated $50,000 to Truth Terminal. The account's past content mainly consists of AI-generated tweets and images. On the 15th, inspired by numerous AI token launches, this Bot began promoting its own token named Child AI on Twitter, but the token's market cap did not exceed $1M at its peak.

In summary, it can be seen that tokens related to GOAT revolve around the concept of AGI and the ticker previously mentioned by Truth Terminal. Although they attracted some attention and funds in the short term, they subsequently experienced significant declines. While GOAT's breakout brought a highly imaginative narrative of AI issuing Memecoins and the market sentiment was extremely enthusiastic, the increasing number of "AI robot Twitter" accounts issuing CAs to attract user funds for purchase, but lacking the motivation for capital injection and a team to sustain promotion, many projects are destined to be short-lived and unable to persist.

AI production tools and pumps have significantly lowered the threshold for issuing Memecoins, but successful Memes still rely on the support of capital groups: through on-chain data analysis, the top 100 addresses of $GOAT control over 40% of the tokens, indicating that whales dominate most of the market liquidity. Perhaps GOAT is just an experiment by a16z to issue a Memecoin under the guise of AI.

The narrative of GOAT closely resembles a historical reenactment of Moodeng: after Moodeng's explosive rise, the family tree was almost entirely revisited in Memes, but ultimately it was HIPPO on SUI that made a strong breakout with a 20-fold increase in three days. The hotspots in the Meme market have always followed the logic of "winning people over with gains, existence is reasonable." When a Meme coin succeeds, people naturally look for reasons for its success, discovering attractive points in the narrative. Whether AI can continue to create miracles in the Meme track remains to be seen.
