Delphinus Lab is an infrastructure provider backed by top investment institutions such as Binance Labs and OKX Ventures, launching the world's first known open-source zkWASM virtual machine, providing developers with the fastest way to connect browser applications to Web3.

Hackathons have always been at the forefront of innovation in the tech industry, where a group of tech geeks come together to write the coolest programs in the shortest time possible. This is the moment when those who hope to change the world with code enjoy the most.

However, the increasing number of hackathons has also led to some confusion: Are we really creating popular products in the market through these competitions? And have we lowered the barriers so that more idea-driven individuals can turn their thoughts into reality?

For the next month starting today, we want to bring you a different kind of online and offline hackathon. There won't be much technical jargon, no complex and brain-twisting cryptography knowledge required; what you need is your creativity, ideas, traditional programming skills, product refinement abilities, and even the "sales" skills to bring products to market. It is still a ZK-themed hackathon, but it will be quite different from the ZK hackathons you have participated in before. Even if you are a game developer with no Web3 background or a creator without any development background, this can be your stage.

This is the MEME.ZKWASM() hackathon launched by Delphinus Lab (click to register) — make games, create MEMEs, and explore ZK? Adults don’t make choices; we want it all.

“We want to make the ZK hackathon more fun”

Who are we? Delphinus Lab is an infrastructure provider backed by top investment institutions such as Binance Labs and OKX Ventures, launching the world's first known open-source zkWASM virtual machine, providing developers with the fastest way to connect browser applications to Web3.

The zkWASM solution offers portable compilation targets for various programming languages including C, C++, Java, Rust, Go, Ruby, Swift, and TypeScript. Based on zkWASM, developers can build ZK applications with minimal code changes. By running WASM code and generating zkSNARK proofs of its execution trace, developers can verify through smart contracts and easily deploy to any dApp. In addition, based on our innovative zkWASM stack, developers can also implement customized mini-Rollup services at the application layer, modularly building their own App Chain.

Delphinus Lab aims to lower the barriers for millions of Web2 developers to enter the Web3 world. We want to create a unique ZK hackathon based on the out-of-the-box technical features of zkWASM, allowing participants to say goodbye to complex ZK circuits, intimidating ZK languages, and long proof generation times. Participants only need to focus on MEME ideas or game design itself; the rest is up to us. We believe this is the mission of infrastructure projects — to allow developers to develop "unconsciously" and creators to create "unconsciously," focusing on building the application itself 🤝

Therefore, this hackathon is not only for developers; creators without a technical background can also join us. KOLs will join your team to cheer you on, and if your project is outstanding enough, we will even support you in directly issuing assets. We believe that good applications should be user and market-oriented from Day 0. Curious about what kind of unique hackathon this will be? The answer will be revealed soon 👇

Ready-to-use development templates

The brand name of Delphinus Lab comes from the "Dolphin Constellation" in Latin, and the cute, lively, and happy little dolphin is also the emblem of our community. The theme of this hackathon is "The Adventures of Little Dolphin": participants will use the game and meme development templates provided by Delphinus to create corresponding works based on the dolphin image.

For participants in the game track, we will provide a full-chain game template, which includes a complete game development benchmark framework or a simple game demo. Through a combination of off-chain and on-chain methods, developers can deploy games on-chain with lower barriers, allowing them to focus on game details and develop interesting and creative games. We will not limit the types of games, such as strategy, action, role-playing, survival, etc.

For participants in the meme track, we will also provide an integrated zkWASM template, enabling non-technical users, including KOLs, to issue meme projects that combine different cultural attributes with one click. Based on the templates we provide, participants can fully unleash their imagination and creativity, directly skinning or uploading MEMEs, achieving project issuance with very low barriers, without needing to focus on technical details. For meme issuance, we do not limit the underlying chain type but prefer chains already supported by zkWASM.

Key schedule

From October 15 to November 10, we will have our online hackathon phase, where participants can start forming teams and building based on the information we gradually release; from November 8 to 10, we will simultaneously hold a three-day offline hackathon in Bangkok, inviting everyone to come on-site to communicate with teams and judges, further refining their projects. The online voting phase for projects will also take place simultaneously. On November 10, we will hold Demo Day.

How will we score?

We will select 10-15 projects from the participating projects and derive the final score based on weighted evaluations from KOL judges, professional judges, and community judges. Game projects will be judged based on creativity, pitch quality, and popularity, while MEME projects will be evaluated based on their storytelling, visual effects, and popularity. If you want to know more details, you can check our hackathon website.

What can you gain?

We have a total prize pool of $100,000 for the two tracks, with the game track selecting three winning projects to share a $50,000 prize, and the MEME track also selecting three winning projects. We will inject a total of no more than $50,000 in liquidity for projects intending to issue assets.

Which partners will join us?

We have invited top institutions, well-known public chains, and famous game projects to be partners and judges for this hackathon. Our first batch of partner institutions includes BeWater, SevenX Ventures, SUI, TON, Bitlayer, Manta Network, BounceBit, ABCDE, CARV, Matr1x, Blade Games, Cellula, and SUNDOG.

As the event unfolds, we also welcome more partners to join our journey to create this unique and creative hackathon together. Whether you are an experienced developer or a newcomer just stepping into the Web3 world, the MEME.ZKWASM() hackathon provides you with an excellent platform to showcase your talents and realize your ideas. Let’s embark on this unprecedented Web3 feast together with innovation and passion!
