The MP4 series is widely regarded as one of the most outstanding F1 cars in history, showcasing true innovative spirit, which are qualities valued by both major brands.
On September 19, McLaren Racing and leading blockchain technology company and official principal partner of the McLaren F1 team, OKX, unveiled the limited edition "Legend Reborn" livery design, which will be used on the McLaren MCL38 F1 car at the 2024 Singapore Grand Prix.
The "Legend Reborn" livery, co-designed by McLaren and OKX, pays tribute to McLaren's iconic MP4 era from 1981 to 1996. The MP4 series is widely regarded as one of the most outstanding F1 cars in history, showcasing true innovative spirit, which are qualities valued by both major brands. The livery design integrates elements from the MP4 era with McLaren's iconic papaya orange, paying homage to the team's illustrious history.
Legend Reborn made its debut at an exclusive trackside event in Singapore, attended by OKX Chief Marketing Officer Haider Rafique, McLaren Racing CEO Zak Brown, and McLaren F1 team drivers Lando Norris and Oscar Piastri.
The livery also pays tribute to McLaren's legendary drivers, including Ayrton Senna, Alain Prost, and Niki Lauda, who drove and helped create the iconic history of the MP4 era, with the names of 13 iconic drivers from that era integrated into the cockpit livery.
The collaboration between McLaren and OKX focuses on innovation and enhancing the fan experience, and Legend Reborn, rooted in McLaren's tradition, evokes a unique sense of nostalgia, propelling McLaren into a broader racing community.
Legend Reborn follows the Senna tribute livery that debuted earlier this year at the Monaco Grand Prix, presented by OKX.
McLaren Racing Chief Marketing Officer Louise McEwen said: "It's fantastic to bring our third bespoke livery back to Singapore in collaboration with OKX. 'Legend Reborn' is a great way to celebrate and commemorate our iconic history, uniting fans old and new. Following this year's Senna event, this livery further demonstrates our partnership with OKX, and we will continue to provide unique brand stories for the global fanbases of both brands."
OKX Chief Marketing Officer Haider Rafique said: "Like McLaren, we believe in the power of perseverance and innovation. This year, we have launched some upgrades of our own, including a comprehensive overhaul of our wallet, making it easier for people around the world to access the world of blockchain. We believe that, like F1, cryptocurrency can be disrupted by a visionary team that innovates fearlessly and with a 'challenger' mindset. It is now a new era to replace established hierarchies, and Legend Reborn encourages us to look back as we plan new routes for the future and find inspiration."
