Open Letter from Bitget CEO: Three Stories of Bitget's "Counter-trend Growth"

Our achievements are inseparable from the 1,500 Bitget team members, so on this special sixth anniversary, I want to share some of their stories.

A few weeks ago, I sat on the balcony of a hotel in Japan, overlooking Mount Fuji, while talking on the phone with one of the founders of Bitget. He mentioned a type of person that annoyed him, and his words made me smile and think to myself, "No wonder it's Bitget, I like the work culture here!"

He told me that the other person was trying to flatter him, but he felt that the other person didn't understand a truth: "One should focus on results and goals, and not be too concerned about how others perceive them. Life doesn't have that many spectators, and truly talented people always have mixed reviews. Good people are essentially useless."

This year, Bitget is six years old! This is my third anniversary with Bitget, but it's my first as CEO. I am very happy to celebrate with this outstanding team, and I have always believed that what sets us apart in the industry is our focus on results and goals.

From managing director to CEO, I have witnessed Bitget's growth against the odds time and time again. In our internal meetings, we often joke that "Bitget has never enjoyed the industry's dividends." We missed out on the ICO boom in 2017, the DeFi Summer in 2021, and the NFT boom in 2023.

But the fact is, none of that matters. What truly matters is our perseverance, hard work, strategic vision, and continuous innovation. It is these qualities that have propelled Bitget to become one of the top four cryptocurrency exchanges by trading volume, with a user base exceeding 45 million.

I have a deep affection for Bitget. As a mother of a six-year-old, I often feel that watching Bitget grow is similar to watching my own son grow. When I first joined the company, Bitget had been established for over three years, and in the past two and a half years that I have been here, our entire team has worked together to drive the company's globalization, significantly increasing our user base, trading volume, and overall strength. Today, we are at the forefront of the exchange industry. I believe that besides the founding team, no one cares more about Bitget's development than I do, and I am excited and proud to lead Bitget into a new chapter.

Speaking of Bitget's team, I not only appreciate everyone's professional skills (we are very fortunate to have such a talented group of people, and we consider the density of talent as the foundation of corporate innovation), but also admire their spirit of continuous self-improvement and always staying ambitious. We give everyone a high degree of freedom because everyone knows that "more freedom means greater responsibility." Our corporate culture attracts and nurtures those who share our values. They focus on results, are self-driven, and are brave enough to innovate. Good decision-making and management are not about top-down control, but rather self-driven, based on the experience and wisdom of each "frontline warrior." It is this attitude that has driven Bitget's rapid growth.

Our achievements are inseparable from the 1,500 Bitget team members, so on this special sixth anniversary, I want to share some of their stories.

Story One: Recovering $50,000 Lost and Found

One day, Arman received an urgent email at work.

Arman was once a star customer service representative at a leading exchange. In 2023, attracted by Bitget's corporate culture, he joined our customer service team. Customer service work is not limited to solving small problems, but also involves handling some tricky big troubles. On this day, a user sent an email claiming, "My $50,000 is missing!" Arman immediately took on the challenge.

After investigation, Arman found that the user had been investing in cryptocurrencies for less than three months, and had recently deposited a sum of ETH, but after 12 hours, the funds had not been credited. He checked the blockchain explorer and found that the gas fee was low, and the network was not congested. So, he contacted the technical team to query by UID. It turned out that the user had selected the wrong blockchain network when depositing, which caused the funds to not be credited. After confirming the safety of the funds, he immediately helped the user initiate a refund request, successfully recovering the $50,000, which relieved the user.

Arman is one of Bitget's 170 customer service representatives. In 2024, the team had responded to 1.5 million customer service requests, with an average response time of only 2.5 minutes. Faced with various incidents of asset loss due to selecting the wrong chain, this year they have helped users recover nearly $1 million in virtual assets.

Story Two: Product Solutions Without Reference to Competitors

Jiren sat in the meeting room, feeling a bit uncomfortable — this meeting was a bit different from what he had imagined.

As a product expert, Jiren had previously started businesses in advertising, gaming, and had also served as a product manager for a well-known e-commerce company. As he saw more and more friends around him getting involved in Web3, he also became interested in the crypto world. At the end of 2022, Jiren became a product manager at Bitget through internal referral.

His first project after taking office was to revamp a product that had been launched two years ago. Based on past experience, Jiren decided to start with research. Within a week, he communicated with 12 relevant personnel, from internal colleagues to product operations, and from retail users to institutional users. Armed with the discovered pain points of users, Jiren confidently appeared at the revamp plan discussion meeting.

However, the situation was not as smooth as he had imagined. Before he could go into detail, another product colleague suggested, "Our competitors already have mature solutions, it would be safer to follow their lead."

Jiren did not agree with this view, and firmly responded, "I have already spoken with their users, and based on the research results, the competitor's solution does not completely meet the users' needs."

With solid data and real feedback, Jiren eventually convinced the team: "Blindly following will not surpass the competition."

According to Jiren's plan, the final product that was launched did not just pursue a beautiful interface, but instead focused on improving the user experience and efficiency based on user habits and intuition. After the product was launched, within just three months, user growth exceeded 50%.

Creating secure, efficient, and intelligent products is Bitget's brand mission. In 2024, we launched innovative products such as AI trading bots that combine AI with strategies, pre-market trading and pre-deposit for high-quality assets, and 24/7 uninterrupted new coin mining on PoolX, providing more profit opportunities for explorers in the crypto jungle.

Story Three: Expert in Resolving Network Congestion

Zoie's eyes lit up. This overlooked new feature might be the key to breaking the deadlock.

As a technical expert for Bitget Wallet, Zoie particularly focuses on the application and experience of the Solana ecosystem. In 2023, during the Meme coin craze, she began to notice that users were constantly reporting the same issue. Bitget Wallet users were complaining about slow transfer speeds and increasing failure rates on the Solana network, especially during the peak of Solana Memecoin outbreaks.

Zoie decided to conduct a thorough investigation. She found that Solana had recently introduced a new feature called Priority Fees, where validation nodes would prioritize processing transactions based on transaction fees, and most non-custodial wallets had not yet supported this feature. She quickly applied this feature, optimizing the dynamic transaction fee adjustment mechanism, which helped users complete transactions faster during network congestion. Although the average gas fee slightly increased, the success rate of Bitget Wallet users' Solana chain transactions increased from less than 50% to nearly 90%.

Whenever a new public chain emerges, Bitget Wallet is always at the forefront, providing comprehensive ecological support. Step by step, it now supports over 100 public chains. In July of this year, Bitget Wallet's monthly downloads surpassed MetaMask for the first time, and due to its rapid support for chains such as TON, it topped the app stores in Nigeria and many other countries.

The stories of a few employees are actually a reflection of Bitget's growth process. We always prioritize users, build products around user needs, and actively embrace the new wave of Web3.

Although we have achieved some results in the past six years, compared to the world's top companies, Bitget is still a startup. Like the crypto industry, we still have a long way to go. Whenever faced with challenges, I always think of the line from "Steve Jobs" biography, "I want to put a dent in the universe," ordinary in life, but different because of the persistence of dreams.

Who are we, where do we come from, and where are we going? With the guidance of our dreams, we are no longer lost and wandering. Think Big, Think Long, we will continue to create history and change the world together with the crypto industry.

Six years is just the beginning, our journey is far from over. We will continue to move towards new challenges, and look forward to meeting you at the next peak!

Respectfully,

Gracy Chen, Bitget CEO
