Inspiration from several top studio bosses

Several top studio bosses inspired me

Last week, due to my anniversary party with Mulan, I invited many studio bosses I often collaborate with to Shenzhen, and held an investment exchange meeting to share my inspiration from this event.

  1. Making money all comes from bear markets

This year, almost all major opportunities were seized by the boss of Purple Seaweed, @zicai222222. He shared that the foundation is, during the last bear market, he didn't sit idle. Either he was looking for opportunities to trade, or he was exercising his team by completing tasks.

Many people saw some bosses playing or vacationing during the bear market, as if they didn't miss anything, because indeed there were no money-making opportunities during the bear market. But when the bull market comes, the ones who make big money are definitely those who are constantly training.

Some may say, "Purple Seaweed plays every day?" This only sees the surface. You should go and see the other people in his team. How many of them were idle during the bear market?

Whether for individuals or teams, how much money is ultimately made in a bull market depends on how much effort and reserves were put in during the bear market.

  1. Sit down and discuss when encountering major projects

Our team missed the airdrop of Wormhole, which should have been the most profitable project this year, and it was originally within our reach, but we missed it.

One of the reasons is that Backpack said at the investment meeting that this project would be launched, so we didn't think further about whether to acquire chips through interaction.

So the solution is, for any major project, the entire team must sit down and discuss it repeatedly, and then discuss it with other excellent teams after the discussion.

Xiaoxin @xiaoxin_bit also summarized that the way to acquire chips should be hedged. For example, if Wormhole comes again, Backpack should take 90%, and the on-chain interaction should take 10%; for the IO launch, Galaxy should take a portion, and the machine should also take a portion.

If we had made this move initially, we would have made much more money this year.

  1. Evolution of understanding the rules of the project party

Regarding the rules of the project party, my understanding has gone through several versions:

Rule 1.0, from Lao Yang @sayid_y, trading exchange launches and arbitrage require reading the rules word by word, which is actually a word game. The rules involve real money, and sometimes a single word is worth a thousand dollars.

Rule 2.0, from Xiaoxin @xiaoxin_bit, participating in launches not only requires compliance with the exchange rules, but also surpassing the rules, such as things that the rules don't mention like one machine, one number, one IP.

Rule 3.0, from Pionex @pzong666 and other project evaluations, if the project party's technology does not support the rules he has set, then take a portion of the funds and use a rule-breaking approach to trade.

For example, in the last phase of IO, because the project party was hacked and lost user data, it means that the project party may not know the actual duration of hanging up. The result is that hanging up for 1 day is the same as 30 days, and hanging up all day is tens of times the odds.

  1. Evaluating the opponent's position

Previously, jokes were made about Node Monkey, Quantum Cat, and others participating in launches, fud=moon. The reason is actually that the number of people dividing the cake has decreased, so each person gets a larger piece of the cake.

Wanli mentioned the concept of "opponent's position" multiple times when sharing. This concept is quite good, reminding us to understand the situation of other participants at all times.

In a recent exchange with Fengmi @KuiGas, he further mentioned that not only should we initially assess the opponent's position, but we should also dig deeper.

For example, if a project has 1 million addresses, it may seem that the opponent's position is strong, but many of them have only interacted once or have just created new addresses.

If we add further screening such as "more than two interactions," "old addresses," etc., we may be left with only 50,000 addresses. Is the opponent's position still strong?

So, the ability to analyze addresses is truly essential for the future.
