SNS.id aims to build an infrastructure layer to make .sol domain names an indispensable part of a more user-friendly web3 experience. It also aims to facilitate the interaction of data across different chains, achieving cross-chain data accessibility and composability, bringing more application scenarios to the holders of SNS.id and an experience beyond Solana."

We have fantasized about the metaverse, game players, and repeatedly mentioned digital identity. This is not a new concept; it has existed since the birth of the Internet. Each of our social accounts is a digital identity. Currently, in traditional mobile applications, we have many "me" in the digital world, and sometimes we even forget the existence of these "me".

With the development of technology, decentralized identity (DID) has become a topic that will never disappear. People are paying more and more attention to the security, controllability, interactivity, composability, and portability of personal digital information. We hope to control our own identity, rather than having our identity stored in a centralized database. This is the significance of the emergence of Web3 DID.

The Web3 DID track is developing rapidly, and its core concept is to give users complete control over their digital identity. Compared with traditional centralized identity systems, DID systems have characteristics such as decentralization, privacy protection, and data sovereignty, which can better protect users' digital assets and privacy. DID combined with blockchain technology has shown great potential in multiple areas such as social networks, RWA financial services, and games.

In this track, SNS.id, as one of the earliest projects on Solana, has built the first domain service on Solana—.sol. This project not only provides users with convenient payment methods and on-chain digital identities but also integrates with most Solana projects, demonstrating its leading position and innovation in the industry. SNS.id has received a $4.5 million lead investment from CMC Holding in the seed round, further proving its market recognition.

Wang Zijian has been a long-term community OG member who has been paying attention to the SNS project. They had the opportunity to meet again at a Web3 event in Hong Kong. At this time, during the new cycle of revival of Solana, SNS is actively expanding the ecological development in the Asia-Pacific region, especially focusing on the needs of Chinese users. Therefore, Wang Zijian invited SNS for an in-depth community interview to discuss SNS's development and future plans in the DID track.

In this issue, we will delve into SNS and have an in-depth discussion with Winnie about the current situation and future of the DID track, as well as understand SNS's products, services, and development plans. We hope that through this conversation, it will trigger more thinking and attention to the DID field.

Zijian is a member of the G20 Youth League, founder of Number.art, and a Forbes China columnist.

Winnie is responsible for user growth in the Asia-Pacific region for SNS.

Key Points:

  • SNS.id is the top-level domain service on Solana, and the .sol domain can be used as a payment method, a web3 username, and an on-chain digital identity.

  • The founder has a close relationship with early Solana developers and has been building on Solana since 2020, making them one of the earliest Solana builders.

  • SNS.id is positioned as an infrastructure layer, dedicated to making .sol domain names an essential part of a user-friendly web3 experience. It achieves cross-chain and cross-protocol composability and interactivity, which is the core competitive advantage of SNS.id.

  • Currently, the development of DID on various chains is fragmented, and users need to manage information across multiple dimensions. The future development of DID needs to integrate into and surpass its ecosystem, and single-chain, single-protocol domains are difficult to be scalable.

  • They have established partnerships with 115 protocols and communities crucial to infrastructure development. They have over 110,000 holders and have registered over 250,000 domains.

  • They support more Web3 applications and services through Grant incentives and joint operation plans.

  • Practical application scenarios: using .sol for transfers instead of addresses, using .sol for brand and identity display, and using .sol domains to interact with 115 projects.

  • Keeping up with Dialect's Blinks wave, they are launching more gameplay and interactive features.

The following is the complete interview record:

Question One:

**Zijian: Thank you, Winnie, for taking the time to participate in the "SNS.ID & Crypto Investment Circle" AMA. *[Can you briefly introduce yourself and the SNS.ID team?](http://Can you briefly introduce yourself and the SNS.ID team?)*

Winnie:

Hello, everyone. I am Winnie, responsible for user growth in the Asia-Pacific region for SNS (formerly known as Bonfida), with a special focus on our CN market.

SNS is the top-level domain service on Solana, and .sol is the symbol of our SNS domain.

.sol can be used as your payment method, replacing the use of addresses for transfers. It also serves as your web3 username and your on-chain digital identity.

Our team currently consists of 15 people, distributed in Hong Kong, Thailand, the United States, Argentina, Germany, and South Africa. We recently rented a new office in Hong Kong last month and will have more resources focused on the Asia-Pacific region.

Question Two:

Zijian: I also really like SNS, and I am a loyal user. I even bought 05.sol and 85.sol. Why didSNS.IDchoose to build on the Solana chain in the first place?

Winnie:

Thank you, Zijian, you have been our OG user for several years and are also a senior digital domain collector.

We started the project in 2020 and belong to the earliest builders on Solana. Our founder has a development background, and they have a very good relationship with early developers and builders of Solana, so we rooted ourselves in the Solana ecosystem. Additionally, in 2020, there were not as many good choices of other high-quality chains as there are now, unlike the many L1 and L2 options available today.

Returning to the present, after going through a cycle of ups and downs, Solana has started a new phase, and this time it is bound to be more stable than the previous one, and SNS is also riding the wave of Solana.

Question Three:

Zijian: You are now the No. 1 DID platform on the Solana chain. What is the core competitive advantage ofsns.idin the Web3 DID field?

Winnie:

SNS.id aims to build an infrastructure layer to make .sol domain names an indispensable part of a more user-friendly web3 experience. It also aims to facilitate the interaction of data across different chains, achieving cross-chain data accessibility and composability, bringing more application scenarios to the holders of SNS.id and an experience beyond Solana.

Identity is a credential for external social interaction, which means the more people recognize you, the more useful your identity is, and the more presence you have.

The core advantages of SNS.is in this field are:

  1. We are the largest adopted top-level domain in the Solana ecosystem: we have established partnerships with over 115 projects.

  2. We have reached a cooperation intention with the Solana Superteam and are recognized as one of the infrastructure providers approved by the Solana Foundation. We are also a partner of the Solana accelerator SpringX. Recently, SNS was chosen by the Pyth Network Dao to provide "pyth.sol" subdomain services, which further solidifies the position of SNS as the leading domain service provider on Solana.

  3. The ability to achieve cross-chain and cross-protocol composability and interactivity is our core competitive advantage that sets us apart from other single-chain or single-protocol domain DID solutions.

Question Four:

Zijian: There are ENS domains on ETH, and[space.id on BNB](http://space.id on BNB), and various public chain ecosystems have their own DID products. How do you view the future development of DID on various chains?

Winnie:

From the question "DID on various chains," it can be felt that the current development of DID is still fragmented.

Almost every chain has launched its own domain name service, which is not user-friendly. We do not need multiple fragmented identities; instead, we hope to manage multiple dimensions of information in one place. Unified maintenance of personal information is important and a more user-friendly way.

Single-chain, single-protocol domains are like single-player games; they can exist but are difficult to be scalable. The development of DID needs to integrate into and surpass its ecosystem.

Question Five:

Zijian: How is the development and promotion ofsns.idgoing? Are there any recent milestones or achievements to share? I also heard that a corresponding Chinese product is about to be launched.

Winnie:

Yes, we launched the Chinese version of the website in June, and more languages will be added. Although one-click Google translation on the website is simple, we hope our users can use our product more naturally and natively.

During the development of SNS, we have achieved many milestones and key achievements.

We have established partnerships with over 115 protocols and communities crucial to infrastructure development. For example, we have collaborated with top Solana protocols such as Jupiter and Pyth for subdomain partnerships, such as pyth.sol and Jup.sol. We have also signed a letter of intent with the key community Superteam.

We have over 110,000 holders globally and have registered over 250,000 domains. Additionally, our token $FIDA's utility has been enhanced, providing discounts for .sol domain registrations and destroying registration revenue paid with $FIDA. Furthermore, SNS provides $FIDA grants to strategic partners to incentivize them to jointly develop the SNS ecosystem.

In terms of product development, we were one of the early collaborators with Dialect and launched the Blinks project. Within a short week, we launched the registration of Blinks and the invitation with commission for registering Blinks. You can leave a comment on our related Twitter to apply for the whitelist.

We still have a long way to go. As one of the infrastructure providers on Solana, .sol is helping to increase Solana's visibility in the industry.

Question Six:

Zijian: Sometimes I use the Phantom wallet to transfer directly to 05.sol, and the wallet address bound to the DID can receive the payment directly. I think this feature is very cool. What are the actual application scenarios ofsns.id? Can you provide examples?

Winnie:

Yes, using .sol for transfers is one of the most well-known use cases. It currently supports 18 wallets, including Phantom, Backpack, OKX Wallet, Coin98, and others. Feel free to try using .sol domain names for transfers instead of your address.

In addition, there are some high-frequency application scenarios worth trying:

  1. Using .sol domain names as your brand and as a way to display your identity, especially if you are a project or believer in the Solana ecosystem.

  2. Using .sol domains to maintain your on-chain identity. Currently, it supports binding your web2 contact information such as Telegram, Twitter, email, and also supports address information from multiple chains such as Injective, BNB, and Base.

In addition, we have integrated with 115 projects, and you can use .sol domain names to participate in their interaction processes through our partner map, and sometimes you may even receive unexpected rewards.

Question Seven:

Zijian: Seeing a large number of projects integrating with SNS, I believe the SNS team is working diligently and continuously creating value for users. What specific benefits does[using sns.id](http://using sns.id)have for ordinary users and developers?

Winnie:

Thank you, Zijian. We have always been committed to providing more usage scenarios and empowerment for our .sol holders.

I will add some corresponding benefits based on the actual scenarios mentioned in the previous question:

  1. Using .sol domain names for receiving payments and making payments is a more readable and recordable way to transfer funds. For example, we often hear about address pollution attacks. If you use domain names for transfers, you don't have to worry about your funds being sent to a polluted hacker address because domain names are tamper-proof and easily recognizable.

  2. Using .sol as your social name and brand can help you attract more attention from people in the Solana ecosystem. .sol holders will pay attention to other .sol holders. Similarly, with the emergence of more gameplay based on Blinks, we will have more scenarios of using .sol on social media, allowing you to experience a web3 interaction mode beyond web2.

  3. Maintaining a unified identity will help you quickly enter different protocols and ecosystems without needing to establish a new identity. For developers, SNS has an open-source on-chain record that has been audited and continuously maintained. This record is open to all projects and developers integrated with us, unifying based on an open-source protocol to help users collectively maintain on-chain data and achieve composability and operability of data.

Question Eight:

Zijian: I believe that SNS will integrate with more platforms and projects in the future. How willsns.idsupport more Web3 applications and services in the future?

Winnie:

We believe that a group of people walking together will go further than one person walking alone.

Grant incentives are the most direct way to incentivize projects collaborating with us, and we also have joint operation plans.

Through the operation plan, we bring our experience and community culture into other web3 applications, helping them grow while also providing more potential benefits to our community, especially active holders.

Question Nine:

Zijian: How does SNS interact and collaborate with the community? What role does the community play in the project's development? Can you provide a detailed introduction to the Grant incentives?

Winnie:

We have over 110,000 holders, many of whom are long-term builders and participants in the Solana ecosystem, using .sol as their identity. We currently have over 250,000 registered domains, including over 2,400 Chinese domains, generating a trading volume of over 17 million.

Behind this big data are the support of every domain name holder and our partners. We are very grateful to the users who joined us from day one and continue to use .sol domain names as their identity.

For developers, our SNS project grant program mainly encourages developers to build projects related to data/identity/domain name transactions based on SNS. If there are community members researching in these areas, feel free to message me to apply.

For our holders, we will be hosting more and more online and offline events in the future, building our ecosystem to empower .sol users more, as well as our subdomain profit plan to help holders increase their secondary market income.

In addition, we are expanding our community management and service team. We have always listened to the voices from the community, prioritizing user feedback and building based on their input.

Last question:

Zijian: What are the future development plans and vision forsns.id? What new features or services can users expect?

Winnie:

In mid-July, in about the next week, we will soon announce a major rebranding, something that our SNS community has been eagerly anticipating.

We are about to announce the official renaming of Bonfida to SNS. This new name will more accurately reflect the scope of services we provide and the future potential. SNS is now the second-largest blockchain naming service after ENS, and we are striving to become the first. We welcome all community members to join us in this wave, which is a collective revival belonging to the Solana ecosystem.

[We also welcome everyone to interact on our sns.id](http://We also welcome everyone to interact on our sns.id) website, with some key and easy-to-complete interactions: such as setting your favorite domain name, setting a domain name background image, linking Twitter, adding .sol to your Twitter name, and more. We believe that the seeds you sow today will bear good fruit someday.

SNS is closely following the wave of Dialect's Blinks, and there will be more and more gameplay launched in the future. You can follow our Chinese official Twitter account @sns_cn for more information. Also, if you are already a holder, don't forget to join our Discord to get the Domain name holder role. Holders often are the first to know about the benefits in our community.

This AMA is now concluded. Once again, thank you, Winnie. And Winnie, please feel free to share any future SNS-related updates with us.
