What's the difference between MEME coins and altcoins? Is there still a chance for altcoins to rise?

1. The MEME category relies on everyone's emotions. If we value the ecosystem, what is the difference between it and a copycat coin?

Valuing a token based on emotions versus valuing it based on the ecosystem reflects two different value judgments:

Emotional value can only bring short-term effects, while ecosystem development can generate long-term effects.

There are very few emotional values in the world that can last and continue indefinitely.

Bitcoin is considered to have the strongest emotional value and the largest consensus in the entire crypto ecosystem. However, it has also experienced numerous brutal bear markets and crashes on its way from zero to today. It has not been a smooth journey to its current position, despite its strong core value and unique narrative background.

Projects like Bitcoin, which rely on strong core value and a unique narrative background, can continuously generate emotional value, build consensus, and repeatedly reach new highs from the bottom, and they are few and far between in the entire crypto ecosystem.

Such projects do not need an ecosystem to survive.

But what about other tokens?

For the vast majority, without an ecosystem, they can probably only rely on short-term emotions and the duration and effects of those emotions.

How long short-term emotions can last, how strong their effects can be, and how high they can push the token price are completely unpredictable for me.

So when I look at MEME coins, if I only see emotional value and not ecosystem development, then my participation in it will only be as a game, as an experience to feel the community atmosphere and value resonance, like gambling. Based on my feelings, I will definitely leave when the price reaches a certain height, and I will not be attached to it. I won't care too much about whether I make a profit or a loss, and I won't hold a large position.

But if I see a strong team leading MEME, continuously driving its development, and promoting its ecosystem, then I will seriously consider its future prospects and potential, and consider holding it for the long term, rather than frequently buying and selling based on short-term price fluctuations.

2. Is there still a chance for copycats to rise?

If by "copycats" you mean coins other than Bitcoin and Ethereum, I think it depends on how these projects are developing.

If the project is continuously progressing and being built, even if the token's empowerment is slightly lacking, I still think there is a chance for a comeback—at least the price will be higher than it is now. Many DeFi projects that have been continuously developed fall into this category.

But if a project has not been updated or progressed for a long time, then the future of its tokens is very dangerous.
