NVIDIA officially released the 4090D tailored for the Chinese market, with a 10% reduction in performance but no price drop. However, the important thing is that the flagship graphics card from NVIDIA is available for purchase again.

The special edition 4090 for China has finally arrived!

Today, NVIDIA officially released the GeForce RTX 4090 D - a version customized to deal with the U.S. "chip ban."

Specifically, the GeForce RTX 4090 D is equipped with 14592 CUDA cores, 24GB GDDR6X memory, a 384-bit wide memory bus, and a 425W rated power consumption.

NVIDIA's official pricing is the same as the RTX 4090, still at 12999 yuan (1828 USD).

Compared to the RTX 4090, the RTX 4090 D has reduced the number of cores and power consumption.

Specifically, the CUDA cores of the RTX 4090 D have been reduced by 12.8%, from 16384 to 14592, and the number of stream processors has been reduced from 128 to 114, while power consumption has also slightly decreased by 5.9%, from 450W to 425W.

In other core specifications, the RTX 4090 D is the same as the full version. For example, it has a 384-bit wide memory bus, 24GB GDDR6X memory, and an acceleration frequency of up to 2.52GHz.

The only difference is a slight increase in the base frequency - from 2.23GHz to 2.28GHz, but it does not support overclocking.

In terms of specifications, it has basically reduced performance by 10%, but the price remains firm…

Although the specifications of the 4090 D are slightly reduced compared to the full version of the 4090, the improvement compared to the previous flagship 3090Ti is still significant.

In "Alan Wake 2," the 4090 D, with the help of DLSS (Deep Learning Super Sampling) and real-time ray tracing (RT) technology, can achieve a performance leap of up to 3.5 times.

Due to the extremely high efficiency of the Ada Lovelace architecture, the 4090 D is significantly ahead in both performance per watt and power consumption compared to the previous Ampere architecture and the competitor's RDNA 3 GPU.

But compared to the full version of the 4090, it still lags behind by quite a bit.

According to the latest U.S. chip export control policy, the total processing power (TPP) of exported chips is restricted.

This special indicator is derived from the maximum computing power of a specific bit width (expressed in TFLOPs or TOPS) multiplied by the number of bits.

The export control regulations limit the TPP of all exported chips to not exceed the maximum threshold of 4800.

The performance of the RTX 4090 just exceeded 10% (reaching 5286), and therefore it has been included in the list of banned sales.

This new model will be exclusively available for the Chinese market and will not enter other countries' markets for the time being.
