This time, the 17 projects that received the Sui Grant are committed to providing products and services in core areas such as DeFi, payments, infrastructure, and oracles.

Recently, the Sui Foundation announced that 17 projects have received a total of $1.05 million in funding to support the development of projects aimed at promoting the adoption and development of Sui.

Grants3 has sorted through the projects of this round, and perhaps some patterns of projects receiving Sui Grants can be analyzed from them.

The 17 projects that received the Sui Grant this time are committed to providing products and services in core areas such as DeFi, payments, infrastructure, and oracles. According to the deployment on the chain, they can be divided into two categories: one is Sui-native projects that have connected to the Sui chain; the other is non-Sui-native projects, which support other public chains including Sui.

Type One: Sui-native projects

(1) SuiScan

SuiScan is a Sui browser developed by Staketab. Staketab is a comprehensive DeFi developer that has also developed other browsers such as Minascan for Mina, and also provides liquidity staking services, developer API services, etc.

X Fans: 2k+

Grants3 Comment: Blockchain browsers are essential in the early stages of all public chains, and public chains need to provide necessary support to top blockchain browsers within their ecosystem. SuiScan's product is mature, and its UI style is unique. Although there is already an official browser like SuiExplorer in the Sui public chain, third-party browsers still have the opportunity to differentiate themselves in terms of UI and user acquisition. From this Grant case, we can see that developers with blockchain infrastructure capabilities can secure a position in the ecosystem by providing underlying infrastructure to different public chains.

(2) Bushi

Bushi is a free third-person competitive shooting game completely built on Unreal Engine 5, which has been released on the Sui mainnet and is currently distributed through HyperPlay. It has won the bronze award in the Sui x Kucoin Labs Summer Hackathon Games and AIGC category.

Website: https://www.playbushi.io/

X Fans: 7k+

Grants3 Comment: From the game's official website and the less than 8k X fans data, it can be seen that the game is still in the early stages. We can see the importance of Sui to the game. As long as the product is of high quality and deployed on the Sui mainnet, there is still a great possibility of receiving Sui Grants and ecosystem support.

(3) Crumb Finance

Crumb Finance is building a completely on-chain solution that allows users to dollar-cost average into Sui and other assets available on Sui.

Website: http://crumb.finance

X Fans: N/A

Grants3 Comment: The project's website cannot be accessed, and X information is also unavailable. From its description, it seems to be a DeFi application with no significant innovation. Its team may have a strong background in capabilities.

(4) FlowX Finance

FlowX Finance redefines the way users interact with DeFi through a DAO-managed advanced exchange, DEX aggregator, mining rewards, liquidity dashboard, and launch platform.

Website: https://flowx.finance/

X Fans: 65k+

Grants3 Comment: The project provides basic tools for DAO organization and community pool formation, making it convenient for other types of projects to engage in DeFi activities. It also belongs to the developer tools and DeFi tracks. This type of project is not uncommon after DeFi Summer. We can see its high level of integration with Sui, from the supported wallets, homepage, and liquidity pool asset categories, all of which are deeply tied to Sui.

(5) Sui Snap Wallet

Sui Snap Wallet, developed by Kuna Labs, will allow MetaMask users to access Sui by installing Snap on their MetaMask wallet.

Website: https://suisnap.com

X Fans: NA

Grants3 Comment: Currently, the website cannot be accessed, indicating that it is in the delivery process. This type of project is a plugin for MetaMask, allowing users to access Sui from MetaMask. Since MetaMask is a major supporter of EVM-compatible wallets, including tools like Chainlist that can only add EVM-compatible public chains, adding such a plugin allows users to avoid downloading other Sui wallets. It can be seen that this type of embedded wallet will cater to a certain type of user's usage habits.

(6) Mole

Mole is a DeFi protocol that provides savings, leveraged yield, and fund services, and also offers products with different risk levels, from safe and stable to high-risk and high-yield.

Website: https://mole.fi

X Fans: 16k+

Grants3 Comment: Mole supports both Aptos and Sui, which are part of the move series, and currently has a TVL of over 50k, still in the early stages. From its product focus, it leans more towards Sui. DeFi applications need to gain a certain TVL on Sui to have the opportunity to receive Sui Grant support. Due to the high degree of homogeneity of DeFi products themselves, DeFi projects from other public chains can consider entering the Sui ecosystem to convert some natural traffic into TVL.

(7) NAVI Protocol

NAVI Protocol is a local liquidity protocol built on Sui, providing lending support for different assets, including $SUI, $WETH, $WBTC, and stablecoins. The platform also plans to add support for LP tokens that generate income. NAVI has won the gold award in the DeFi category at the Sui x Kucoin Labs Summer Hackathon.

Grants3 Comment: This project is invested by Mysten Labs.

(8) NFC's on Sui

NFC's on Sui, built by CryptoCoders, is a platform that integrates social activities with on-chain assets, allowing the community to create events that attract new and old audiences. NFC technology will introduce users to Web3 on a large scale, bringing Sui into the real world.

Grants3 Comment: This project has no official website and is still in the early stages. From its project description, it appears to be a task platform type of project.

(9) Kuna Labs Smart Contract SDK Generator

sui-client-gen is a code generator that generates TS SDK code based on Move smart contracts. It brings security types and significantly reduces boilerplate code when interacting with smart contracts and retrieving objects from the chain.

Website: N/A

Github link: https://github.com/kunalabs-io/sui-client-gen

X Fans: N/A

(10) Sui Contract Source Verifier developed by Movebit

Sui Contract Source Verifier allows users, auditors, and developers to upload the source code and audit results of Sui smart contracts to automatically verify the differences between on-chain bytecode and source code.

Website: https://www.movebit.xyz

X Fans: N/A

Grants3 Comment: Movebit is an auditing agency for Move contract language. We can see that technology middleware generated by this type of third-party service organization can also apply for Grants.

(11) SuiOwls

SuiOwls provides tools and a community platform for the Sui ecosystem, including Discord sales bots, Discord holder verification, pre-sale and fundraising platforms, lotteries, and auctions. It currently supports projects such as Fuddies and Cosmocadia.

Website: https://agora.owls.wiki

X Fans: N/A

(12) Surf Wallet

Surf is a Payment 3.0 solution designed to create an encrypted payment system accessible to everyone. The Surf product series includes CPoS (cryptocurrency point of sale) for businesses. SurfPay supports bill payments, service subscriptions, and one-click entry, ensuring privacy through features such as zkKYC (zero-knowledge KYC) and stealth transactions. Surf has won the bronze award in the Infrastructure and Tools category at the Sui x Kucoin Labs Summer Hackathon.

Website: https://surf.tech/

X Fans: 21k+

Grants3 Comment: The encrypted payment track is a web3 traffic entry that every public chain will compete for, and each public chain needs to support native payment projects.

Type Two: Multi-chain projects integrated into Sui

(13) CoinBrain

CoinBrain is a popular multi-chain AMM/DEX analysis platform that also provides various developer tools such as free APIs, embedded widgets, and chatbots.

Website: https://coinbrain.com/

X Fans: 9k+

Grants3 Comment: Productivity tools that can reduce developer costs are preferred by many public chains. Early-stage public chains like Sui need a large number of developer tools, and projects of this type are more likely to receive Sui Grant support.

(14) Indexer.xyz

Indexer.xyz is building a cross-chain NFT indexing solution, allowing NFT applications to be built on it, and developers to build and market them in a short time. It also makes liquidity across chains more accessible by aggregating cross-chain NFT liquidity.

Website: https://www.indexer.xyz/

X Fans: 1k+

Grants3 Comment: Cross-chain projects are best suited to receive Grant support from multiple public chains. We can see that Indexer has already integrated multiple public chains including Near and Aptos, and by supporting this type of project, Sui can provide more liquidity for its NFT projects on-chain.

(15) Scallop Tools

Scallop Tools is a DeFi protocol dedicated to building a user-friendly money market that allows you to build programmable trading blocks, including single operations for multiple trades. It has won the bronze award at the Sui x Kucoin Labs Summer Hackathon. It supports Sui and Solana chains.

Website: scallop.io

X Fans: 65k+

(16) Stork

Stork has invented a hybrid oracle architecture driven by a decentralized network of data publishers and is compatible with Sui. They prioritize performance, using ultra-fast Websockets to ensure data availability in milliseconds, similar to the data used for trading in TradFi. Currently compatible with public chains such as Arbitrum, Starknet, and Ethereum.

Website: https://www.stork.network/

X Fans: 2k+

(17) Zeus

Zeus is building a simplified, non-intrusive k8s node deployment that can run on any cloud provider through Kubernetes. Its user interface allows people to manage, build, customize applications, and deploy nodes with one click.

Website: https://www.zeus.fyi

X Fans: N/A

The above are all the projects that received the Sui grant in this round. Next, we will categorize them according to their tracks, as follows:

It can be seen that Sui currently places more emphasis on the DeFi track, with 5 DeFi projects. This is quite logical, as TVL is a significant metric in the early stages of a public chain, and DeFi projects can bring direct TVL. Following that are developer-related tools and middleware, totaling 4. Other related tracks are also distributed.

At the same time, we can see that at least 5 of the projects that received the Sui Grant this time have previously won awards at the Sui x Kucoin Labs Summer Hackathon in July. For developers, winning Grants through hackathons is a very good starting point.

We can also see that the recipients of this round of Sui Grants are generally in line with the ecosystem completion, with a focus on DeFi. We look forward to seeing more Web3 innovative products and paradigms appearing on Sui.
