Vice President Kamala Harris pledged on Sunday to support artificial intelligence (AI) and digital assets, speaking to donors in New York City. At a Cipriani Wall Street fundraiser, Harris shared her economic vision, focusing on innovation and regulatory protection for consumers and investors. The event reportedly raised $27 million for her campaign.

“I will bring together labor, small business founders and innovators and major companies,” Harris said at the event. The vice president added:

We will partner together to invest in America’s competitiveness, to invest in America’s future. We will encourage innovative technologies like AI and digital assets, while protecting our consumers and investors.

This was her first direct statement on cryptocurrency as the Democratic nominee, signaling a potential shift from President Joe Biden’s approach, which many industry leaders view as restrictive.

The event featured prominent Democratic figures like Governor Kathy Hochul, Senate Majority Leader Charles Schumer, and several celebrities. Donors from industries such as Wall Street and Silicon Valley contributed significantly, with ticket prices ranging from $500 to nearly $1 million.

Harris also emphasized her plans to simplify regulations, stating:

We will create a safe business environment with consistent and transparent rules of the road. We will invest in semiconductors, clean energy and other industries of the future, and we will cut needless bureaucracy.
